See what it feels like to roll your car!
Cam mounted inside this kid's Volvo.
Yeah it's not a Yaris, but it might make you think twice before pushing that turn too hard. This is intense, be warned...... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jthp1D6B6YQ&NR=1

Those Volvos are built for that kinda torture.
I doubt a Yaris would have faired as well. That "bubble" of a roof we have does'nt seen that sturdy to me.

I think it would need a straight on hit to fire side airbags. Heck, NONE of the aibags fired!
But looks like everyone's ok. Interesting how the driver climbs out the window instead of opening the door. He's obviously in shock,

next we need roof airbags for when we roll...
climbing out of your window is just the cooler way to get out (he needs it after a wreck like that), not like the uncool guy in the back that just opens his door. |

Did you see the way that camera goes flying in the car?
If they wer'nt belted in, they would have definitly been hurt.

Had a roll over in my 2007 Camry, no airbags deployed either. Thinking back to it, I might have a broken neck if the side bags did deploy---look at how their heads are situated in the video.

+2. Brings back bad memories
BTW, the front passenger didn't get out in the vid. Was he trapped?

I think the car landed on the passenger side, hence why the driver ended up climbing out the window. If you wouldve opened the door, it wouldnt be very effective.

Simple fact many people that haven't been in rollover's don't appreciate: Car doors are *HEAVY*
I say this first-hand: Opening the window is the best, if not only way to get out of a car that's on it's side. The only other option generally is to open the trunk/hatch if that's accessable, as there's simply no way to get enough leverage to open a car door against gravity with how reinforced they are today. Hell, even the doors of the old 87 Civic I was in a rollover wreck with were just too damn heavy to open. Latches worked, but couldn't get any leverage from the seat, and couldn't push far enough out of the seat. So... windowcrank and climb!
