Full Gas Tank Noise?
Hey everyone,
It's the second time I filled up my Yaris today and this time I can here the gas floating around when I make turns or go over high bumps on the road. Just wanted to know if anyone here has had that problem?

Okay, happy motoring! But please make sure that it is only the fuel tank and not water trapped somewhere.

Sorry, I really have no idea. I only suggested a precaution. I know this has happened to some cars at locations such as under the spare tire or in the trunk. Also, there are openings in some locations to let out the water collected during raining or car wash. If they are blocked, you know what will happen. However, I have not heard that it has ever happened to the Yaris this far. My logic of suggesting that to you has been that no other Yaris users seem to have your same problem and therefore it deserved some further looking into. If it is not the gasoline, probably it is water....Chance that I have guessed right is low.

Good point Swng. I had an '84 Zapper with a leak in the hatch window, that allowed water to collect in the spare tire well. At first it drove me crazee, trying to figure out where the sloshing noise was coming from. Took the dealer 3 tries to fix it too!!!!!
That Z28 was a classic though. Nothing beats a big bad American V8 for torque, and it handled like a race car with just factory suspension mods, wheels and tires. |
