My 2008 LB Base 5-speed w/ convenience package (radio, rear wiper), floor mats and tint was negotiated to $11,600 (about $1k below sticker, I believe), then added dealer-installed cruise for $500 (no amount of negotiating helped there) for a total of $12,100. Add your dealer marketing fee, tazes, title and license, some TRD goodies (dealer agreed to sell me accessories at cost +5% if I purchased same-day as the car)and I think it was a little under $14k total, out-the-door.

Bear in mind that the auto tranny is about $1k more, and the power package adds a ridiculous $ to the price. The 09's come standard with ABS ($300) and side-curtain airbags ($500) that the 08's didn't come with, so factor that into the new price. Also they offer VSC standard now, and I dont' know if that was even available on the 08's.

Also, it seems every dealer puts the "vehicle shield package" on at the port (I know for a fact that Gulf States toyota does), so you're stuck with that and sometimes the "permavin" unless you special-order your Yaris and wait a while for it.

According to the Toyota website, an 09 3dr LB Auto w/ convenience package, floormats, and vehicle shield package has an MSRP of $14,989.00 in TX. That includes the $700 destination fee, but not any dealer marketing costs.
You should expect to be able to negotiate at least $1000 off of that price, regardless of your credit. If they try use sales price as leverage for financing, get up and walk away. They will make the extra money on the interest rate you get based on your credit; the price of the car should not be part of that equation.
The best way to avoid any of that BS is to negotiate the price of the car before any discussion of financing or trade-in. If they try to do that, simply tell them that you won;t even discuss trade-in or financing till you have settled on the exact car you plan to buy and have a firm price in writing.

Your state sales tax is going to make a pretty big difference in TOTAL price. Here in TX, we have no state income tax, so sales taxes are higher than most states. I think mine in Dallas was 8.25%, but I can't recall if new vehicle tax rates are different than standard sales tax.

While that's a good idea. But bad in a few ways:

1. no financing means not building good credit on your end
2. no financing means less money for toyota (they tend to push financing through toyota)
3. not really any extra incentive to selling the car. sure they'd have the cash straight up, but the company makes more money on the financing and fees.

sorry to put a damper on your ideas there...

Here's an option, Finance only like $500 through whomever, its enough to still hit your credit, just pay it off in 6 months so it effectively hits your credit.

As for waiting for the 2010, that may be a good idea. From what people are saying they come standard with a Tach, trust me...3 years without one, kinda wish I had one every now and again.

well came back from sebring and checked out that dealership over there. seems like their prices arent as bad as over here in south florida. i seen one with a sticker of 14 grand the guy told me with tax tag and title it would be around 16. has anyone else here in florida have gotten a better deal then that possibly somewhere else in FLORIDA with a lower price
