I dislike;
cupholders (sedan)
handling
under powered ( I went from 250hp to 106hp)
everyone thinks it's an econobox (cheap, welfare car etc...)

I like:
trunk room
gas consumption (last car used premium)
underpowered (keeps me out of tickets)
the fact nobody even pays any attention to it (stealthy)
cheaper on insurance
resale value

I know we came from the exact same car but its funny how different the sedan and hatch are.

I love the cupholders in the hatchback the ones that pop out of the dash easily hold even the largest Slurpee.
I totally agree about lack of power, but I think its geared well.
My PT GT handled like garbage and I would say the Yaris is far better.
The Yaris is a bit cheaper on insurance.
I feel my Polar White hatch stands out since there are so few on the road.
trunk room in the hatchback is minimal.
no premium fuel is a HUGE benefit.
Potential for 40+ MPG is really nice too.

I like the looks and the MP3 radio.
Seats don't go back far enough
No tach and the center mounted speedo is odd.
$12,560 sticker price is hard to argue with.

I like almost everything about the car, the only things I would really like to see on the liftback is, addition of a tachometer to the cluster, offering of the 5spd auto that almost every other Toyota has or at least offering of the 4WD or CVT gearboxes over here like in Japan, and finally, a little more power out of the engine.

5dr liftback with manual transmission.

dislikes:

-cruise control is stand alone option for $500.
-AC smells when in recycle mode for long period of time
-Front windshield lets in too much sun light (better UV protection would be a solution)
-narrow tires
-restrictive leg room for front passenger (but the wife isn't tall, so its OK for her)
-No AUX port for iPod or MP3 player

Likes:

-passing power which gets better with time.
-manual transmission that gets better with time.
-dash layout (which would look even better with a 2 din DVD player)
-handling dynamics
-spacious back seats.
-easy in/out access for those with knee problems
-good brakes and smart ABS system with EBD
-rear bench easily flips forward
-easily accessible cargo tray
-good sound isolation for such a small car (but would like more)
-comfortable seats for long drives (not plush, but very supportive). More thigh support would be nice, but since it has molded to my bum, not a problem.
-2 cup holders dedicated for front passenger (one for bottle of water and the other for coffee)
-driver side glove box. very convenient if you're constantly going into he glovebox.
-good am/fm reception on standard stereo system
-sun visor that extends. (might not work for shorter drivers, but perfect for me when rotated over to block sun coming from the side window)
-Nice placement of Tachometer which closes to line of sight.

Manual Hatchback

Dislikes:
stock seats (can't wait to get rid of them)
dash rattle (ever since new, can't get rid of it)
no tach
torsion beam rear suspension
rear drum brake

Likes:
peppy
handles good
light weight
good fuel economy
great pricepoint
plenty of interior room (rear seats removed)
good looks
nice aftermarket support (getting better)
reliable
the look on the *insert luxury/sports car name here* drivers face when you lap them at the track

bad:
Gets thrown around by the wind more than other small cars
Sometimes the engine stayes revved for a along time after I let off the gas
Slight delay in throttle response
No folding rear seat standard
No side airbags standard

Good:
Plenty of power for me (I almost never floor it)
Incredible MPG
Smooth ride for it's price
looks great inside and out

3 door 5speed hatch

Dislikes:

I don't like how much it moves with the wind when on the highway, want the lowering springs (hope that helps)
Minor dislike of the "Bug" antenna (I want the BMW fin off ebay)
No side airbags

Likes:
Very peppy (I chose the car for the "good" reasons, good on gas, inexpensive, but was pleasantly surprized with the fun factor)
The growing aftermarket support
smooth transmission compaired to other cars I've driven(need the TWM short shifter )
The overall look of the car with tinted windows.
MP3, 6 disc changer
Cup holders (I think these are different in the sedan)
The look on peoples faces when they get in for the first time and see how much room is in there
Pure potential for the car.(It'll never be a rocket, but it can be extreamly fun to drive!! *insert suspension, frame stiffening, turbo(150whp would be fine), exhaust, body kit*

It'll never be a G35 or IS250/350(my favorite cars right now) but it'll blow away anything in it's class or even some classes above in my opinion.

3 door 5 speed

LIKE
overall pleased for what I've payed for

WOULD LIKE
longer wheelbase and longer car overall - the HB is really too short, I don't see why Toyota wouldn't add 5 more inches to the rear, it would look better and would give more trunk space
4x4 OEM suspension
rear whipper standard please

You know... I've heard this a lot, but honestly, I feel this car gets tossed around way less by wind than the '05 PT Cruiser (total piece of crap, I might add) we traded in for it, and we get some strong wind around here.

yeh, i'll be interested in seeing how it (the 4DR sedan) handles in the wind. my prior car, a saturn SL1 was pretty light and was buffeted around a bit.

2dr LB for me

dislikes:
just a hair *too* tall, I'd like the roof to be a bit lower in relation to the floor.
stock tires seem pretty weak in wet conditions
steering wheel too far away when the seat is all the way back, in relation to the pedal and shifter distance
no tach?????
interior begs to be scratched

likes:
center mounted guages - wierd at first, learn to love em!
acceleration/handling is solid, well, enough :)
stock cd player was pretty dam good, along with stock speakers! of course, they will all get swapped out anyway
lots of nifty storage areas
the seats fit me perfect (6'1"/215)
awesome visibility
feels very big inside... although the roof is a little *too* high as noted above
1nz-fe, fun little motor with lots of untapped potential :)
the overall look of the car, I think its *perfect* without that dopey top antenna and the "toyota" and "yaris" rear emblems.
I like... the car

btw, highway stability has been great for me... much better than the loose suspension cars I've had in the past... those could get scary. As stable as say a 3000gt, big/heavy/wide/low.... nah... but stable enough to comfortably go 90-100 even in moderate winds, definitely.

3 door LB AUTO

Likes:
Stubby design outside - very cute
Tons of room inside - lots of headroom and storage
Little cubbies in the spare tire section for tools and cleaners
Center Gauges
Head Unit/MP3 input
Peppy acceleration
Handling
Easy oil changes
60/40 Split rear seat fold flat/slide fore and aft
MPGees -- 30-33MPG without babying it
Drive by wire and DC power steering
Upper glove boxes
Cupholders
TCO
The "In your face!" smallness and economy factor.
The obvious Toyota quality.

Dislikes:
No Tach
No factory cruise
No factory armrest
No factory NAVI
No Traction or Stability control like on the Xb!
No visual gear indicator in the auto, slight problem at night.
Couldn't find the 5 spoke alloys like in the brochure and website

I agree. My 5dr liftback does a great job cutting the wind. If it had wider rims/tire (instead of the 175/65/14 setup) it'd probably become as stable as most of the larger sedan. But as is, it's still does an above average job with the dinky tires.

3-door LB Auto w/Power Pkg.

LIKES:
Driver's glove box
Dash Cupholders
Center Gauges
Good looking Enkei wheels
Handling--I can finally do a U-turn without leaving the road!
Peppy for such a small engine
Great gas mileage even when I put my foot in it
Cargo space with back seats laid out
Plenty of space in driver's seat (leg room, head room, etc.)
Cute-ability factor (it's just so F'ing cute!!!)

DISLIKES:
The way my right knee feels on the 15th hour of a 16 hour road trip.
The fact that anyone riding with me in the car knows how fast I'm going (the only thing I don't like about the center gauges)
