TSB to dealer
Hey Guys,
My car is almost at the 36,000 mile point and i'd like to take advantage of the TSB's that are out so I can get some things repaired before the warranty runs out. Here is my question: Can I just go to the dealer with a stack of TSB's and say fix/replace these things, even though some of them may not have been an issue for me (they don't know they haven't been an issue for me). I've never used a TSB before some i'm unsure of how that works. Last edited by Astroman; 08-21-2010 at 04:35 PM. Reason: Merged threads |

Nope, they'll test drive it to try to replicate any noises, odors, etc. If they don't hear/see/smell the problem on the test drive, you aren't getting it fixed.

They won't fix them unless you complain of the symptoms. I had to complain like hell AND bring the TSB printout in to get my stinky catalytic replaced. Dealer tried to tell me no such TSB existed, and I was at fault for using "cheap" gas. (I hardly use cheap gas, usually shell) Came in with TSB, said I'm having this complaint, I'm under warranty, so fix it!
They did. Dunno if going in with a stack will work, but things like the catalytic would be a $1,200 bill on you if you don't get it taken care of. *edit* not sure if the 2008 has that issue, but my 2007 did. |

TSBs aren't recalls, so the dealer is not obliged to do them. They alert the service people to an issue that has occurred enough to warrant alerting all service people to the potential issue.

mmm... well the stinky ac is for real with mine. I'm going to have to sit in the car and see in what settings it makes the smell.
