Factory alarm
Has anyone installed factory alarm on yaris? I can get it for cheap and was curious if it is worth it or should i go aftermarket. I like having just my key but would consider aftermarket.

There's a thread on here where someone installed the OEM alarm, which is the TVIP RS3200. It is quite a bit more expensive to purchase than an aftermarket alarm.

I found it on a trd parts website for about 135.00 shipped an the extra harness needed for +09 and up models. I just want to know if the factory alarm is a good option for that price or should I just go aftermarket.

The OEM system is good. The biggest advantage over aftermarket is that it is pretty much plug and play. $135 shipped seems mighty low. Is that price for the entire kit (08586-53860)?

Hey CT Scott thanks for the quick reply. That is the part number that I checked on the website and it shows that it goes for $ 108.00 and the Sub Wire harness part # PT398-53080 that goes with it goes for $ 14.40. The total is $122.40 + shipping costs. Do you know if it is really plug and play or is it very involved to install? If anyone is interested in the website I saw it for sale at let me know. I did not put it here cause I do not want to promote someone else website on here.

Here's the install guide to give you an idea of what's involved: TVIP V5-RS3200-T-AI-0345-D.pdf

Can anyone let me know if they successfully installed the factory alarm themselves. I did read the PDF that CTScott put on here and while it does look like a lot is involved it does not seem to be very difficult to install.

Reeves360 installed the entire OEM system including the keyless entry receiver.

i put one in my car a while ago. its fairly simple. the only difficult part was squeezing underneath the dash on the driver side to connect one of the wires on the backside of the main wiring instrument panel. it was a pain in the butt. other than that its straightforward n only takes about an hour if you're new to it like I was

I put one in and it was a pain in the arss, well worth the effort getting keyless though. I bought mine on E-bay minus the glass sensor for $45.
