It's so lame that we don't get the diesel here. Even though 15 hp less than 1NZ might be a little scary getting on the highway in the city, I love torque around town (or I did when I had it in other cars).

My old '85 Honda with 80hp has no problem getting up to highway speed, so 90hp with twice as much torque should have absolutely no problems.

CR-X, or even Civic, weighed about what... 1900-2100lbs in '85? Yaris is closer to 2400-2500 and taller gearing makes a difference.
Oh yeah, and I'm from the Dallas area. I don't know how things are in Ontario, but it seems a good 50% of the traffic around here is 6000+lb vehicles, whose drivers are more concerned with their cell phones, makeup, and such than on the road (nevermind the vehicles around them; they think they're the only ones on the road), and speed limits are given little heed. It's common for the traffic flow to be 15-20 mph (25-30km/hr) over the speed limit, and then be dead stopped over the next hill. |
