Just got my WS80s today and tomorrow my wheels. This will be my first time driving on snow tires so Im very interested to feel the difference.
Tires make or break your car since its the only part that touches the road. Time to store the Toyo R888s/wheels on my Delsol, winter is coming.

Got my wheels today and somehow got done work early and had time to take everything over to get mounted and balanced. The shop I went to qouted me $20 per wheel/tire but when I went to pay he said I got a discount because they are an official Tire Rack installer. The tech even marked the inside walls L and R with tire paint since the WS80s are directional tires.
Its amazing how soft the rubber feels. Im going to mount them this weekend and put a couple hundred miles on them so they are ready for snow and ice driving.

My all seasons are getting old and starting to dry rot. Believe it or not, the winter tires I bought werent, even though they were made in 2005. The tread on them was harder, but even then, they started to have problems after constant hard breaking. If I were to get winter tires, I'd rather get new ones, or almost new, because they dont work as well when the get older, even if they still have a good amount left. I had seen a really good deal on nordics with rims. Almost new, for $100, but 4x108 :(

I had my WS80s on for 1 day of work and I hit a damn pothole and killed 2 more wheels.
I was just going to drive for 1 day and take them off so they are ready to go for when snow falls. I already bought 2 more replacements which arrived yesterday and I was going to get them done but Im on call this weekend and got called out to work. Hopefully I can get them done tomorrow.

Another thing to remember , a front wheel drive car often gets in trouble driving up a steep hill in snow and ice. There's a lot of weight transfer to the rear wheels driving up hills, leaving much less weight on those front drive wheels. If it 's safe, without traffic, try driving in REVERSE up the hill , which will give an opposite effect. I've done this, and it often works.
