Thumbs up Just got a Yaris

Hi everyone, I just joined the forums. I got a Yaris Liftback about 10 days ago to replace my fuel guzzling El Camino, lol. My main concern is overall cost of ownership, including fuel economy. I've never really owned a small car but I like it. It was costing me over $60 to fill up the El Camino and that got me maybe 300 miles, if that. I chose the Yaris over the Honda Fit mainly because of price. I also test-drove the Chevy Aveo and wasn't impressed.
For the same amount of add-ons included as the Yaris, the Chevy was quite a bit cheaper but I don't really trust GM nowadays. I've never owned a Toyota before. So far so good.

welcome to the pack ! i also tried honda fit but there were few points of dislike over yaris: higher price, worse fuel economy, outdated design and - last but not least - NO CENTER ARMREST !

Well, my Yaris didn't come with a center armrest either, but I always rest my right arm on the wheel anyway.

You got the best value by selecting the Yaris. Good thing you didn't choose the Aveo; what a tin-can hunk o' junk that is.

The Yaris is the best balance of price, room, MPG, reliability, and styling. You could not have picked a better car...those Chevy Aveos are Korean, by the way....glad you didn't get seduced by the low price....they deceive :-(

Yeah, I knew they were re-badged Daewoos and when I opened the door and looked at the sticker it said Korea so, they haven't changed but they do look a little better than before.

Well I have no kids, not married, the only person who would ever be riding in it other than me is my girlfriend. Dealers around here have the sedans over-equipped for my needs to where they cost $2,000+ more than the liftback w/ power package. I don't really see what you gain with the sedan other than 2 doors and a tachometer which is pointless w/ an automatic.
