Nothing new to report... Spent most of he weekend at the LB GP. Our shock guy was in town for the race, unfortunately our shocks were not in his carry-on luggage. The shocks are still being worked over, and will have to catch another flight from the Netherlands.

Still have not had time to get the engine management installed.

We did get our new 20-9.5-13 Goodyear Eagle slicks. Just a tick wider than the 15s, at 10.5", and 3"s shorter. This will help fix our way to tall gearing, and drops a good deal of unsprung weight. Now if the wheels would just get here.

Looks like we will be running the same setup as the last few races when we head to Buttonwillow for the Double National this weekend.

Slight setback at Buttonwillow....

Qualified strong, 2nd, after skipping practice - this turned out to be dumb. When we read the sups for the event we both read it as we were running the same configuration as we normally use for every Natl race there, but this was not the case. So we were learning a new layout in qual and still ran fast.

Things were looking great during the race, should have been able to run for the win. But on lap 4 as I tracked out over the FIA curbing on corner exit something let go - a still unidentified part broke and made the car unsteerable, resulting in an a impact with one of the worker station walls. Lucky this was one of the slowest turns on the track, I was only going about 60mph when I realized I had a problem, and got it down to about 40mph on impact.

Took about an hour to pull off all the damaged body work, and most of the damage is just cosmetic. The uni-body is strait, and all the mounting points are intact.

So while we are waiting on these parts we are going to move our schedule up a couple of months and get the engine and trans work down now.

Glad your ok, doesn't look too bad for 40mph collision.

Did the radiator break, or was it just taken off while ripping things down I assume the radiator supports were at least crumpled.

Unsteerable, as in turn the wheel and neither wheel turns, or does one of the two move?

As in the steering wheel locked, no turning.

The car does not have a column lock, has to be removed for Prod class, not that it would have mattered with the key in the ignition.

The power steering motor has also been removed, so I know it did not lock up.

Still early in the process, lots of parts to check. And we have lots of time, next Natl race is not until July.

Only bummer is we were planning to pull the slicks off and run one of the local autocross classes at the Cal Club Divisional in June, but the engine will likely still be in pieces at that point.

that makes me really nervous... we are pulling 85-90 mph on street tires with a lot of steering input on a couple corners here. im planning on running RA-1's at the next event so the speeds will be even higher.

I would not worry based on this one case. This could have been an issue just waiting from the cars previous life.

We will figure it out and update.

But just in case... Stay off the FIA curbs.

Did the steering unlock after the accident or was is it still locked?Do you have a manual rack or is the relay pulled on the factory power assisted rack?

Finally had a few spare minutes so I put together my video from the SCCA Solo National Tour in San Diego (April 10-11). My Saturday files took a dump, but here are the quick runs from CSL (my wife in an RX-8) and AS (the car owner and myself in his Corvette).
