His car was flatter than mine with 400f/400r, TRD rear bar, and Dunlop Z2 tires. I was more consistent with my times but at the end of the day the co-driver had the faster clean time.

Great job! Tristan is an excellent driver. Were conditions consistent throughout the day?

Tristan ran 2 groups before me at around 11:30 give or take. It was around 85-90 degrees with mild wind but temps were def hotter during my group.

Its a big slick asphault surface, so I probably had the edge tire wise running the z2s where as he was running the Rivals.

It definitely look really good out there.
Good to hear someone is running the Federals, that is one of the tires on my short list of STF tires, mostly due to cost!!

So I just ran my first event on Rivals, and I've got mixed feelings about them. Compared to the DZ101's I ran last year, they are a big improvement in grip, but I've lost all sense of hitting cones. So much so that I only had 2 clean runs of 6, but was only aware of a single cone that went bouncing through my rear-view mirror. One run was a +5!

That said, I'll wait to see how I do tomorrow and next weekend before passing judgement.

Thats somewhat to be expected.

First off you're learning a new tire which has much higher limited than your old tire, if your car has stockish suspension the car will lean more making inputs delay, and the Rival is a pretty vague tire as it is.

As I like to believe, its better to learn on a crappy tire that doesn't let you make mistakes vs a good tire that does. When I switched to the R1R's I had a really hard time getting used to them, they had so much more grip and let me get away with so much I couldn't tell when I was making mistakes and overdriving the tires.

I'm on Tokico blues and Tien S-techs, with a TRD rear sway bar, so I would call it stock+. I was actually pretty worried about fender rub, but didn't experience any. The cars that I was close to last season all upgraded their tires too, and put a real hurt on me.

Finished this weekends autoX and I got my azz handed to me. Part of that is me being unfamiliar with the new setup, part of it was the very difficult to drive course, but most of it is the amazing talent of the drivers in the other Yaris.
I feel if I could have figured out how to drive the car, i'd have seen an additional few seconds drop off my time but that'll come with time. I do know I was having a really hard time getting heat into my tires which has never happened to me before.

Here is my fast run of the weekend.

I do feel with the new RSB the car is faster, and my data is pretty telling about it as well but I have no clue on how to drive the car anymore :(

sounds like you need more seat time.

the charity event being put on by Jay will help in that department. AND NO WORK.

just runs after runs after runs. look for the thread in this section of the forum.

So I stuck a gopro under the front of my car just to see what's happening. Well here is a screen grab. I don't think adding negative camber is gonna fix this issue.

Back in my Showroom Stock road racing days, the VW Rabbits would tripod so high I could nearly drive my CRX right under them in the corners! I'm not joking these things would get 1-2 feet off the ground and it would be down-right scary to watch....

Some video of the charity AutoX rear was softened up so I could avoid terminal understeer.

Kinda surprised how much things move around even with my fairly stiff springs.
