OP,
lots of local clubs have variations on the SCCA classing based on the turnout.

example: shit tons of Turbo Civics on street tires show up they may enforce a SMS (street tire Street Modified) so the poor civics aren't up against the turbo AWD 285 tire equipped S4s.

Tamago and russthepirate,

Per new scca solo classing rules, those are the correct new classes in my region as well. All previous STS classed cars are now ST class. All SM2 classed cars are now SSM i think? Anyway, you guys ordering new magnets may want to check the rules, as they have changed this year.
This was done so that scca could eliminate #'s from all classes, eg sts2, sm2, etc.

I am going to start running CST here in the Los Angeles Area

CALIFORNIA STREET TOURING (CST):
Vehicles eligible for CST must comply with the rules of CSM, with the exception that all of the tires mounted on the car must have a TREADWEAR number of 140 or higher molded by the manufacturer on the sidewall.

CALIFORNIA STREET MODIFIED (CSM):
Vehicles eligible for CSM must be capable of being licensed for street use in California, shall be run on DOT approved tires and must meet all SCCA Solo Safety requirements.

If you take out the back seats, is it then a two-seater?

No. 2-seater has to come from the factory that way. Besides I'm a 2 & 40% seater.

Same in my region, except we have a new STM class as well, basically SM on street tires. This is where I run, our largest and most diverse group.

Not many people in D- E- or FSP in my area lately, though CSP is still popular with the Miata drivers.

You guys know what i think is funny? We have about 95-130 participants at any given event, but nobody bothers to run in say STM for street modified. I'm thinking they can't be competetive with street tires, and everyone else has R-comps? It's just something i see in other regions, but nobody has decided to start up street tire classes in r-comp legal classes. Hmmm, just a thought.

DSP is a gigantic class here, maybe 12 or so at any given event. FSP has 2 cars, and ESP is a wrx with 285's and 2-3 camaros, and a few mustangs or cobras. CSP is a popular class here w/ miatas as well.

Running essentially stock. Just pulleys. I went with HS class. Some little honda H/Bs were running in STS and were on average 10 seconds faster than me on the course. They were running 1.6L engines (Non-VTEC), header, what looked/sounded like straight pipe. Suspension wise, they looked to be fully done with Konis/Ground Control.

you should actually be in ST now... We ran ST with like focus, probes, integras, a few 240sx's.

STS is for CRX, Miata, stuff like that.

I kinda like to stay in class ST for now, but i kinda want to just do the mods i want (ie. LSD.) If i do that, ill have to get into FSP and get slicks. I will probably do that when i'm out of school.

ST is a good class for lightly modifyed Yariss.

The Kumo Mx s I use are really hampering the times though. Great for wear and ok for AX but a better tire will make a hugh difference.
