Pried it from him. Still haven't gotten the side skirts on and am having someone else paint the roof black.

Speechless

Can't fathom how many feet of tape must have been used. Roof already looks black.

i am not sure what you mean by cut and buff, but buffing (if that is paint), you will just need to use 1400 grit sandpaper. wet sand the are until not as rough as orange peel. (yes the fruit).

after which, you polish with buffing compound. don't use the over-the-counter 3M ones, they are too strong and doesnt finish well. (and quite expensive since you'll be needing a lot)

yes that's the info I was In need of. My cousin got all butt hurt last night and instead of simply telling me this he went off on a tangent. I assume I'll find what I need at Wesco?

The buffing compound is called rubbing compound here too. The 1400grit can be any branded (like 3M) sandpaper so the abrasives's sizes will be consistent (cheapo ones have bigger and smaller abrasives if you magnify under the microscope--not good for the paint)

And unfortunately other than Home Depot, I don't know a lot of stores in the US. My sister stayed in DC for a few years and I have relatives there in Jersey, but that's as US as it can get for me.

Did he burry the custom paintwork under a thick layer of clear coat?

...did he get that far? ...or does it still need to be cleared?

He buried the paint under two thick coats of clear at least. Should be getting the car back from the local guy tomorrow.
