never played this game is it really that addictive? i had a friend that would play ALL the time. I would go to his house to hang out and he would play all day. His grilfriend would be there and he would be in one room and she would be in another room, just completly neglect her for this game. What is it like a live RPG?

I used to play Starcraft on battle.net all of the time. And Diablo, and Diablo 2. Now on to Blizzard's newest game - WoW! hehe.

People get seriously addicted to this game. It's the exact same thing as an individual getting addicted to gambling.

Gambling games such as slots are engineered by people that study exactly how many times an individual will keep sticking money in a machine without winning before they decide to get up and walk away. Casino owners will program a machine to pay out on a random average. This is what keeps people playing; the fact that you might win something the next time you pull that lever.

WoW works on the exact same idea (well PvE does anyways). Kill a monster and you might get a rare item drop. That chance to get that rare item is what keeps people playing basically the same game from level 1-80. Your character gets stronger, but the monsters get stronger too, so the game doesn't really change from a grinding/farming perspective.

I think it's a fun game, but like gambling, some people just can't do some things in moderation.

I just like pissing people off. I want to hit level 80 and gank everyone.

I don't really care about the item drops. =)

That's why I threw in the PvE part. But you must care about the item drops (or PvP/Arena rewards) otherwise you can't really gank players the same level as you. If you're ganking people at significantly lower levels than you, then you're just griefing imo. WoW is not about skill, it's about gear... and I guess FOTM classes.

Well, really I just like PvP. I get a rush out of it. Yeah, you have to have good gear. But I pvp for the fun of it.

Me and my brother are even making some twink level 19's to pvp with.

But it's still addicting either way. I played seriously ALL weekend. Got from 63-70 in 3 days.

I've got a 72 blood elf lock on Turalyon.
I haven't played in a few weeks though, even though my friends bought me WoTLK for free :)
My desktop decided to take a huge dump on me a few weeks ago when I tried to play CS:Source and I might've thumped it kinda hard and now it doesn't boot. *pout*
And I can totally play on this laptop but i just...haven't. heh.

I'm with you though Ryan, hit 80 so I can just fk around (and maybe stalk lower alliance chars, hahahha)
in it for the fun, not for the addiction.

Just wanted to throw in one of the greatest times I ever had on WoW....

It was a little after TBC came out. A bunch of my friends and I had been 70 for a while. One of my coworkers had just started playing WoW like a couple months earlier and was a total nub with his level 52 rogue. We were hanging outside the bone wastes near shattrath and he said he wanted to see outlands so I said sure because I was a warlock. So my friends and I go right into the middle of the area close to the 60+ mobs and start summoning him. He pops up, agros like 7 mobs and gets one-shot. My friends and I were /loling and /dancing over his body and he asks us "WHAT HAPPENED!?" Then my friend says to him "You just got outlanded." omg I couldn't stop laughing for like 10 minutes.

I may not play anymore, but some memories of Azeroth will be with me forever.

Hahah that's awesome.

My favorite moment actually happened last night. (I've only been playing for a month.)

I was doing some quests by the Nexus, and a level 69 Night Elf Death Knight challenged me to a duel. (on my 70 Blood Elf Death Knight).

So I accept, and he /pvps in the middle of the duel, making me PVP'd.

His friends jump me, and as I'm almost dead, all of a sudden I got healed full health. I turn around and an 80 Priest has my back.

Then an 80 Warrior attacks her. I pull him to me, and tank him while the priest heals me. And the other Death Knight and his group are still on me.

Then that Priests group (all 80's) comes in and wipes them all out.

It was just so awesome. Like the whole Horde has your back.

From my experiences playing both factions, horde is almost always the better side. Too bad my obsessed friend put so many damn hours into his gnome mage so me and my other friends were forced to play Alliance most of the time. I understood though because he was a legend and made it into the #1 alliance guild on every server he transferred to. When TBC came out, he literally stayed up for like 4 days straight playing nonstop just so he could be one of the first people on our server to hit 70. He said it was pretty nuts because while he was leveling in outlands there would only be like the same 10 people from both sides in the areas because they were the only ones high enough level to be there. As soon as he hit 70, he bought his draenei elephant mount (he had reached exalted status with the draenei faction weeks before tbc came out by farming av) and sat his gnome at one of the main roads in azuremyst and then just went to sleep so everyone could see one of the first lvl 70s of the server and realize how insane he was.

There was this one orc hunter that was there while he wwas leveling and he said that that guy was the only one of all of them that would try to gank the alliance (they mostly left each other alone because they were all focusing on leveling). Name was Abanden. He told my friends and I tons of stories about that dude. My friend even claimed he might try to box-level like 10 rogues and name them all Abandenkilla1, Abandenkilla2, etc. and then just leave them in different areas all over so that he could stalk that guy and murder him every chance he got lol.

All the kids seem to be re-rolling Horde characters. So now we're getting a flood of idiocy.
