I wish the US version would go to a 6 speed automatic. The extra gas mileage would great. I would probably buy another Yaris for my road trips if it had the 6-speed.

FWIW, I think it's too bad that Daihatsu is pulling out of Europe and that Europeans aren't lucky enough to essentially get the 2nd and 3rd Gen Yari available new simultaneously past the 2013 model year (although to do so might not (or even likely doesn't) make sense to the brass at Toyota).
Right now they can thoug. They can either buy the 3rd gen Yaris from Toyota, or the 2nd gen Yaris, as Charade, from Daihatsu. There's even a hybrid Yaris.

Yes, with much better styling (IMO + in the opinion of many others) than the Prius C 'variant' here in the U.S.

I think (at this time of year) there may be two reasons:

1. (unless things have changed in the realm of taxes on this front) The I.R.S. charges dealers a tax on the inventory they have on January 31st. So dealers try to reduce their inventory up to that date, and then increase inventory after that (which might happen more slowly with small dealers).

2. I've mentioned in previous threads that I thought the Yari at dealers in your area = heavily optioned because the overall inventory of those dealerships is low, which makes the profit in each car more precious. Not being able to find nearly any Yari might be that scenario carried nearly to an end .

It's not a real Daihatsu and selling a Toyota product as a Daihatsu i'm against it personally.I have both brands i can tell you the driving experience is nothing a like.

Daihatsu engines are small but terrible in a good way. it's bonkers. strong for what it is.

Toyota is more of civillized and tamed, frugal and economical. The driving experience on both is totally different.

actually in some markets, if you own 50%+1 of the shares of a company, you fully own the company. example, if the 50%+1 of the shares are sold out to and bought by the government, then it is said to be government-owned company.

that isn't surprising. The only reason I even know this about Japan is because it was mentioned when Toyota bought the 51% of Daihatsu.
