yes yes you do.

you ever find out cost of parts to build the 1nz?

it's pretty stupid expensive for what you get out of it. :(

Well, it is and it isn't. I figure if you put the cost of the car back in you could have a 10 second Yaris. $25,000 for a 10 second car isn't bad.

You really have to love the thing to go that far with it though. I honestly just love the little Yaris. I know there are better cars, but I don't want 'em! -folds arms-

not my point.

and a 10 second yaris would be really boring to drive, plus i highly doubt you could make it reliable or repeatable 10 second yaris for $25k ON TOP of the car price.

point was it's really expensive to build a yaris motor and there is no proof out there that they'll be reliable when built or will make significantly more power.

it would suck to drop that $$ into a yaris and not getting any return but an unreliable motor :(

That is great! I hear you on the love, man. Though right now, I'm more in love with my CRX.

I love the yaris too, I think we all do.

with some light wheels, suspension, racing buckets, and a low boosting turbo (and supporting mods) i think you could have a mildly reliable kick ass little toy.

Getting back on subject - back to takuto's post - you just have to add the pistons with new bearings? WIll the stock ECU handle this???

Anyone have an idea how much it would cost for a mechanic to open up the engine and install the prius pistons/bearings????

This holds the potential to be a very effective an hoprefully not too difficult mod. Sombine this with a few othe smart mods and our engins could make quite a bit more power!

they'd have to remove the entire engine to do this.

and if you want any form of reliability you'd want the block to get honed and potentially bored out slightly to clean up the cylinder walls.

no point in spending $1.5k in parts to not have them work correctly after installed.

you don't gain any power from putting in new internals, you gain the potential for more power. You also gain the potential to break alot of stuff.

if you're on a light budget it's smart to leave the motor alone.

all i know if it took 25k to dump into the yaris to make it go 10's id do it just because i know my smaller displacement motor will be beating up alot of the bigger displacement motors cause its all about the power to weight ratio. and to add you can still have a reliable yet highly modified motor all it comes down to is building it correctly tuning it correctly. theres alot of highly modified cars out there that are dd and still reliable.

there are exponentially more poorly modified cars built by people who "think" they did it right.

to get a yaris in the 10's you'd need to have huge drag slicks, and a motor that didn't make any power below 6k rpm.

it takes alot of home cooked quality engineering to build a 10 second car for sub $12k btw, then again since we're bench racing we might as well say we can do a 8 second yaris for another $3k.

a fully caged, stiff ass suspension, properly sized wheels/tires, and mild turbo kit Yaris would be a hell of alot more fun (and cheaper) then a 10 second yars.

30 minute lapping session > 4 10 second pulls

I'd love to see them.

and if this has been done why hasn't it transferred to the yaris?

you'd think with all the "beefed" up xB's running around you'd see some of it transfer over.

Maybe 10 seconds is pushing it, but 10 bucks says Garm puts an 11 second road course monster Yaris on the ground by the end of next summer.
