This is a much better place to get LEDs: http://www.lsdiodes.com/
They have 3mm LEDs that are 5,000 mcd (I think - site is down) and 5mm, 12,000 mcd LEDs. That's really, really bright. They also have a link to a calculator (in the resistor section) that calculates the proper resistor for you. |

Thanks to all who responded. I was all set to do this - I had them all fabricated, put them in place and tested them out. It really looked pretty good. The problem is - there is a plastic piece inside of the headlight housing that slips in between the two chrome pieces when the headlight is together - right where the eybrow sits. I could have modified it but decided not to.
I see Audi copied me. The new R8 will have a row of 12 LEDs as running lights on the bottom of the light. I should get $10 from each sale. |

Bummer... What about placing them in the same place where Audi did: Just under the headlight housing>

You need that space for the reflector to move so you can adjust the headlights down.
I thought about a row of LEDs like the R8 will have, but don't really like the look of a bunch of point sources. |

As posted above, I ran into problems and decided not to install them.

here's a somewhat farfetched idea but maybe you can try drilling some 5mm or 3mm holes into the "eye lashes" of the LB housing and then wiring them up to the parking lights? like i said, it's farfetched
also, aside from the fitting problems what other problems were there?
