It takes a real man to admit defeat. (no pun intended :o)

Luckily the jail time is suspended.

The insurance really is a killer, that's the worst. Many humans are capable of forgiving and learning, but insurance companies take 0 chances unfortunately.

Suspended jail time. What exactly does that mean?
You really have to go to jail for driving a little crazy?
I hope you come out on top in the end and perhaps some good can come out of this in the long run for you..

Suspended jail time is essentially probation. The jail time is placed on hold, but if you incur another offense during the probation they can tack on your previous jail sentence on top of whatever fines or jail time they give you for that current offense.

IIRC anyways.

Anywho, OP have you shopped around for insurance? I had Viking Insurance years back because they were the cheapest given my driving history. (Young and dumb ) I've had a few friends use them as well after DUIs and such.

Ah, because you're financing the car?

I had just the legal minimum in California, but it was still significantly cheaper than elsewhere, so it's worth a look! Better than increasing your deductibles anyhow.

way way too late for that... that was July 1st 09 and it was fixed within the month... I had too much to worry about right then any ways... I was worried about suspension/frame damage too (i hit the curb hard enough to bend the stock steelies) I resurrected this thread to let everyone know how it turned out...
