I just stuck a straw in there from a can of lithium grease and sprayed. I also sprayed it on all the shift linkages on top of the transmission. My squeak went away and has been for a couple months now.

FWIW I had a squeak when i'd depress the clutch pedal

ok

oh okay, I was skeptical about doing that cause you don't want to spray the clutch disc or something that'll cause more harm or start slipping. I was thinking if maybe I can get a camera probe in there to see what specific parts to lube or not.

I just made sure I didn't direct the straw directly in the direction of the clutch. Haven't had any issues since.

When I swap out my flywheel and clutch this summer i'll be adding a lot of grease to that area to ensure no sqeaking happens again.

I had this little annoyance too (little squeak noise moving gears)

A couple of sprays of RP7 solved this for me, 2 1 second sprays once, leave 5 mins, then repeat with a 1 second spray on the area in the original posters pic, (thanks).

Yay! My first post, Hi people nice to meet ya :)

Wow!
I've got that ,too.
I can't believe it's so common.
I haven't gotten around to addressing it because i didn't know it could be so easily reached.
Thanks!!

Is this engine-dependent?
My Yaris 2007 uses 2SZ-FE engine and I am not able to find this part in the engine compartment...

Thanks!
I used some product called Zep S 2000
It's clingier/stickier than WD40. And shouldn't just wash off.
The squeak is gone.
since I only heard it shifting into 2nd gear, I was affraid it was coming from the tranny.

Guys, I'm convinced this is my issue, but I cannot for the life of me find this part. I have an 07 Yaris (UK). Can someone show me where I'll find this in my engine bay?

I just recently replaced my Clutch/pressure plate/throw-bearing ........and in fact i replaced the whole transmission gear box in my car. The squeak is coming from the fork pivot point and also the throw-bearing when it pushes the fingers of the pressure plate. Just put a little coating of grease on those parts and ........problem solved- NO MORE SQUEAK.

Everyone, please be very careful using lithium grease on the shifter linkages and bushings if your Yaris is older like mine. I have a 2006 2dr hatch with manual trans. I just had a linkage bushing failure on the highway and my car would only shift into 3rd gear. For the past year, I've been using lithium grease to keep the squeaking away as I was getting an annoying squeak shifting into 2nd gear after finding this thread. Last night while coming back into Toronto traffic from Ottawa, I downshifted and when I went to shift back into a higher gear, I could only get 3rd gear no matter what gear I tried to shift into. I limped the car home in 3rd gear (very annoying at stop/starts), thankfully have a new exedy clutch in the car cause I had to ride the clutch to get moving at red lights in 3rd gear. The lithium grease deteriorated the bushing to the point that it slipped off the lever and over the cotter pin that holds it on (I only used the lithium grease on this particular bushing as it was the one squeaking, the other bushings are fine and in tact). Lithium grease and really any oil based products will eat away at plastic/rubber materials, even higher end poly-eurethane bushings. Do not, I repeat, do not use this hack if you don't plan to replace the bushing anytime in the near future or if you plan to keep the car for longer than a year without replacing the bushing. If I didn't fix it myself this morning and/or have a trustworthy mechanic, this is something that could land you a hefty repair bill cause I thought my transmission died on me and sleezy mechanics will try to make you pay for unnecessary repairs. I almost scrapped my car over this so beware that using this hack will ultimately lead to worse problems in the future if you keep your car long enough afterwards.
