I haven't seen any postings of someone actually doing the install, but I replaced my side view mirror glass with ones that had LED arrows that shine through when the turn signals are on. For all intensive purposes it is the same process to install and wire them (with the exception of the end point being a couple of terminals over on the connector in the under dash fuse panel).

The most difficult part of the process of adding mirror heaters would be not breaking the glass. When I pulled the mirror glass off of the plastic backing to swap mine over, I broke one of the mirrors. Fortunately my LED ones included new glass, so it was not an issue, but if you were going to install heaters on the back of the existing glass, you would need to be very careful.

Thumbs up Heated Mirrors

I have installed heated mirrors and they work quite well. I purchased heaters and extra mirror glass in case there was any glass breakage, there was. The cost for the parts were about $20 for each glass and about the same for the heaters, I wired mine in parallel the current draw is under 2 amps I did not use the defroster,I got a lighted switch rated at 6 amps. The company name is Burco glass, just google. The 2009 has 2 wires on each door that you can use but you still have to run wires to the fuse panel. BTW the heaters are not big enough to cover the whole glass. When removing the glass use a 2 inch paint scraper to pry the glass out of the holder it is held in place with some sort of sticky putty, someone recommended using butter knives, I dont think thery are wide enough. There is a lot of rambling hope you can make some sense. Good luck

Would any Scions have heated mirrors? If so, can't we use those?

All rear abs assemblies are the same, so it MAY have this problem. It's not difficult to go back there with some grease and coat the connector to eliminate the issue.
