??
Ok this might be a stupid question, but how much would it cost to get my Vitz (Yaris) converted to a rear wheel drive car. And is it even possible? I'm thinking like $2,509,198.34 but I thought I might ask anyway.

The Yaris has a short enough wheel base to make the car extremely agile. It's not worth the money, time, and amount of work to get a very minimal gain, you might even experience oversteering with it. At the same time, that extra weight for the driveshaft would make the car slower...

It is possible and has been done right here in the States. It wouldn't be easy and it would cost a fortune unless you're doing the work yourself.

AFAIK the only Yaris that was RWD was also running a 2.6L Tacoma engine. There were pictures of the car posted here long, long ago... right after I joined. If you search really hard you may find them. It was to be a drift car.

I am sure it would be much more cost effective to shipp an AWD trans, transfercase, axles, etc from a vitz. it would be much more bennificial to most to go AWD as well... then slap a Turbo on then you are ready to go

The way I see it, you have two options to go RWD.
1. Hack up pretty much most of the car and install a longitudinal engine in the front, with custom drive shaft, etc, big money 2. Remove front engine and gearbox, and put it where the rear seats used to be. Still a huge amount of work, but probably more feasible. Though keep this in mind, the Yaris has a pretty short wheelbase, short RWD cars do have a tendency to spin out more easily than lomger ones, so you'll need some pretty major suspension tweaking to keep it well balanced. But boy would it be pure madness to drive

My thinking would be to find an FC/FD shape RX7, whether NA or turbo, and stick that 13B engine into the Yaris together with the drivetrain suitably modified. The engine is small enough and the relatively low torque nature of the rotary engine should help the short wheel base nervousness a bit.
Of course, I'd say leave it alone, not all that is RWD would be gold. The car is fun as an FF as well.

It would be easier to get a Miata and stick the Yaris shell over it.

anything's possible, with the right combination of time, skill and money. Just go watch Monster Garage for inspiration. So, how about a rocket-powered Yaris?
