Toyota C-HR Rally

Have to say, this looks awesome. Wish it were AWD, but still—great look. More info:

I don't get it. Possibly one of the ugliest cars I have ever seen!

I think that this is going to be a really popular vehicle for Toyota USA/Canada in 2018+. I want to like the C-HR, but it just has too many crazy/odd character lines and design cues, and reminds me of the Thundercats cartoon for some reason.

Fold a piece of paper dozens of times every which way to create random crisscrossing lines, then crumple the paper into a ball. Finally, unfold the ball of paper to reveal nonsensical patterns that can be reverse-engineered into sheet metal design. Voila, our new Toyota C-HR!

You might wonder about a low plastichrome ground effect on a "rally" car. But that's an unobtanium alloy wedge that splits rocks on the rougher sections of the course...just keep your foot in it and enjoy watching the pieces fly over.
(This sort of design ethic originated in the 1980's ? with a type of toy that could be changed from, say, a car to a crazy bionic dinosaur warrior robot. What were those things called?)
edit: I remember now. "Transformers"

Saw my first C-HR in person today. My God it is ugly. Random, unresolved lines. Body pieces poking out at odd angles. Looks like an origami nightmare. Somebody needs to smack some sense into today's designers. This ultra-creased design look is becoming way too common.

Toyota new design language is kinda hard and angular, somehow aggressive looking.
I mean some new designs are subtle, but i think the CH-R is overdone.

Also i think the new 2017 Yaris looks like a shark from the front.

I'm no doubt in the minority for my appreciation of the 2015-2017 Yaris look/styling (at least in the SE trim), as well as the upcoming 2018-2020(?) upcoming refresh version - but the C-HR is just too much. All those crazy body lines, curves and whatnot are just disconcerting to me personally. It looks cartoonish and goofy in all the wrong ways. The latest Civic has the same styling issues, by my reckoning.

At this rate the only reasonable competition to me buying another Yaris SE hatch in 2020-2021 is a refreshed Toyota iM with decent front styling this time around. It will probably come down to me either getting the last year of the 2018-2020(?) refresh Yaris SE or the completely new next generation design Yaris SE, if I like its styling better.

I will probably keep my current '15 Yaris as well, for weekends and the occasional manual driving fun.

yea...take that car off to rally and the bottom of the car will be completely shot. There's too much body not much clearance too little wheel/tire

It's not quite clear in the photo, but does that badge in front of the driver's door really say "HYBRID"?

I know its cosmetic, but in the link, they have an un-rallyed-stock version. Its more do-able than the one above. And yes, its a hybrid...
