It's got a tint of blue in it, as with any white LED if you look at it long enough.

But yes, the camera makes it look bluer than it would to the naked eye.

Great install! Looks awesome bigsky2!
Did you add a switch in order to change between LEDs easily? If so, could you please let me know which model you used? Thanks!

tk-421:

Edit:

I completely ignored your question.. Sorry.

I did not use a switch, but instead I ran the power wire for the white LEDs to the engine area and tapped into the parking light power wires. The rules/laws regarding automotive lighting is not strictly enforced here, so I decided to wire it that way for convenience. I drove by a few police cars over the last couple of nights and they didn't give me any problems.

In addition to Violin's suggested wiring, I also tapped into the parking light power wire in the engine area. I removed the headlights, opened up the bundle of wires inside each fender, and performed a "tug test" to determine which green wire belonged to the parking light on each side. I pulled each green wire until my girlfriend felt that the green power wire from the parking light began to pull/wiggle.

I then ran the grey power wire from the mirror cover to the engine area and used a quick splice (t-tap) connector to tap into the parking light power wire. The white LEDs on the mirror cover will only turn on if I turn on the headlights to the first position (Parking lights only) or to the second position (Parking Lights + Low Beam lights).

I chose to do it that way as I didn't want the white LEDs to be on as soon as the e-brake goes down and the DRLs turn on.

Attention non-Thailand owners who wish to install this mirror cover, or for anyone who has to cut the clips and apply this by sealing.

Do NOT use acrylic polymer to seal the mirror covers to the mirror assembly. I thought I was all smart and cool when I decided to use some left over sealant I had at home to affix the mirror covers..

Big mistake.. LOL.
I let them cure for a day and a half, with tape on the mirror to hold the covers in place.

When I removed the tape, the sealant was still wet and all it took was a simple tap and the mirror cover came off.

After I cleaned everything off, I went to the store and purchased a silicone based sealant that had better adhesion to plastic. Coincidentally I ended up choosing the same sealant that Violin used: Silcone II window/door sealant by GE.

It has superior adhesion to plastic and created an excellent seal for the covers. Just make sure you cut a small piece off the tip so that the bead size is thin, allowing you more precision as you run along the mirror assembly.

BTW - thanks to you too for the excellent DIY (part one)

I thought I broke my mirror clips when I took them off for the first time...

It'll be hella fun Thomas...

If you are anal like Violin and myself, you'll enjoy getting those wires through the boot!

That works too.

I have some spare t-taps if you want them. I think they're 3M, pimp stuff.

The light cluster looks BIG for that mirror. Are the blue lights LED or bulbs?

Why does it not fit? The clips don't match with the mirror assembly, or ??

You do realize that the side markers let the idiot in your blind spot know that you and to turn andthat mirror won't achieve that right?

The side markers are a safety thing.

Yes but strangely enough, go look around at pics of the stock USDM sedan... no side markers!

And a lot of US cars still have red rear turn signals that are impossible to see, What's your point?

But you can see the front turn signals on the sedan from the side:

Not so with the liftback.
