I don't think I've personally used Valero in my vehicle but used it all the time in my old jobs company van. Never really saw anything bad from the use of their gas.
I was very pleasantly surprised to learn a couple years ago during my vaction in Idaho that Sinclair stations can still be found out West. I remember Sinclair being one of the major brands of gasoline from my childhood days, and I thought that all of the Sinclair stations became "Arco" stations sometime in the 1970s.

We "old people" like to find at least SOME things from our younger days to be still around.

My former company actually did environmental consulting for Valero Energy for one of their bulk fuel terminals at a certain port. It was not one of their refineries. Needless to say all of the bulk petro that came in was from foreign countries. They had two tank farms each with dispensers for 18 wheelers. Some of them were Valero rigs (not anymore for all the Valero gas stations are no longer here) but most of them were competing gas stations (Citgo, Gate, ect.) Later that division of the compay went under NuStar. I am not sure it they are still a part of Valero and their refineries (probably the only true Valero fuel). From the map of the US that I saw in the offices they are big from Texas up thru the midwest, mostly owning pipeline and a couple of ports on the eastcoast. Just my 3 cents.

I grew up in Hammond, IN, during the 1950s and 1960s, and the big name gas stations during my youth were:

Standard
Shell
Sinclair
Phiilips 66
Texaco
Clark
CitGo
Sunoco
Esso (Humble Oil & Refining Company)

I might be forgetting a couple.

Another big one, at least in the South, was Pure.

Citgo used to be Cities Service.

How can we forget Amoco?

Yep, I had forgotten about Citgo being called Cities Service, but now that you have mentioned it, I definitely remember that.
