you have to remove the plastic push-pins(across the front and one above each tire) that hold the front bumper in place, then you can pull the bumper out enough to remove the headlights and change the bulbs. Headlights have three screws holding them in.

Yeah you just pop the hood stick your hand behind the headlight and remove the bulb. Takes about 2 minutes.

I just had my passenger bulb replaced a couple of days ago. I purchased the bulb at AutoZone and they offered to put it in for me because the parts clerk I had couldn't explain to me why the entire part code didn't match their system (the answer ended up being that the unmatched numbers are more of a style number...all that matters = the first four numbers -- the 9003) as I was worried about getting the wrong bulb and having to bring it back. The first parts guy tried to put the bulb in and couldn't figure out what to do after disconnecting the wire going to the back of the housing (he reattached the wire). The second parts guy knew the ins and outs of the parts coding and was able to explain why I was buying the correct bulb, so i bought the bulb (10.99 + TAX). I had the driver side bulb replaced at 138,111 miles and the passenger side bulb replaced at 150,207 miles (both in 2009) and a Toyota dealer charged me $16.00 each time...so this time I headed for the same Toyota dealership. The price had risen, but only $2.00. There was a long line, but they were willing to squeeze me in. While I was in line, 2 different guys who are not Toyota Master Techs came out. They got the wire disconnected, got the 'bladder' off (that thing that looks like a small version of the end of a toilet plunger) and couldn't get the bulb out. Then a Master Tech came out and he got the bulb out (and he has medium size or slightly above hands) and put the new one in. I asked him what he was doing differently. He said there is a clip that you have to squeeze before you try to pull the bulb out. He showed me how you can see the clip when the bulb is in place. It sort of looks like a camp lantern handle with a place to squeeze it built in. I returned to the service writer to pay and he said because they didn't have to pull my car into a bay, there would be no charge! Perhaps if you show up to a dealer at a busy time the same thing might happen. I got the impression that the clip (that only the Master Tech knew about) = Toyota's 'mechanism' for allowing those who don't have small hands to be able to change the bulb.
