NGK 5464 Iridium IX vs NGK 4996 Laser Iridium Spark Plugs

Buying new plugs for my 2007 Yaris. I've had it a week and it currently has 106,000 miles on it. RockAuto has the NGK 5464 Iridium IX for $5.93 & the NGK 4996 Laser Iridium for $6.07. At that price I was just wondering the difference? Preference?

Thanks,
Russ

Any plug will last 100k now so it's moot.

Hmmm. OK. Then I guess I'll just pend the 14 cents more for the better ones if everything else is equal. Thanks for the help!

My wife's Camry has 130k on the plugs and it's running like it did 12 years ago.

100k change interval.

i have the ix plugs when i got my Vitz RS counter parts from japan, ecu tuning, header etc. purpose of the plugs are to handle more heat/heat range...if you abusing your car like me or turboed, go for higher range plugs like ix or laser 😀

interesting, if you go to the ngk web site it shows the 4996 as OEM and the 5464 as on option

same heat range, same gap, same resistance, but the 4996 has a 8mm center electrode for longer life, where the ground electrode of the 5464 is tapered for "faster starts and better acceleration". !!?? I blew up the pic and the ground is tapered, sure as heck. So if I take a dremel to the ground on the 4996 do I get a faster, longer life plug?
