Upgrading Alternator

I want to put a new higher output alternator in my 09 yaris sedan to reduce some of the strain on my electrical system. I have about 500 watts peak 300 rms of equipment on top of all the stock equipment. I was wondering if an alternator from say a tundra or camry would fit in the yaris since they look like they have the same mounting structure or if i should have my alternator rebuilt.

I took my alternator to the parts store and put it side by side with the Tacoma alternator. Although close you would need to fabricate a mounting bracket.

Afterwards I took the stock alternator to an alternator repair shop down the way and had them do a "re-wind" to 100amps...they said they didn't have space to get more wire on. With my "630wRMS"(per Alpines own spec sheet...) it is performing perfectly.

It was 50.00 for the rewind/rebuild with new fan/volt regulator and they tumble the case so it looks brand new.

BTW, according to the tester at the parts store(Autozone) the alternator was "good"...according to my gauge and tester it most certainly was not. Autozone only tests for amperage output, their machine did not test volts. The alternator shop confirmed my suspicion right away on their machine.

500 watts peak is too much for the stock alternator? It's not drawing that all the time.

Thanks for the info, I'll see if i can get mine rewound/rebuilt. And in response to the other post I don't experience the dimming headlights but I want to play it safe especially since I'm looking to add some more components to my system.
