Does anyone here know why Bridgestone tires are so expensive?

Looking through the tires on the Tire Rack, I've noticed Bridgestone tires are always the most expensive. Do they think their crap don't stink or something?

Yes.

Also the weak dollar vs. Yen.

Also they are the biggest tyre co, so they might think they can keep the same volumes at higher prices (and they do)

Also they are the sole F1 supplier and price their tyres higher due to the tie in. Some people will buy their tyres based solely on that...

My new Goodyear's are also made in Japan. When I read that on the sidewall I was floored!

I am not the pope of rubber, but have been buying motorcycle, car and heavy equipment tires for the last 30+ years and have an opinion about what works. Of course that does not mean that someone with very little time behind the wheel can't teach me something. Ya, when you are ready ping me.

In my opinion smaller tire companies like kuhmo have really increased quality, i've never liked goodyear or bf goodrich, they just never lasted me long. The most important thing is replacing your tires every 2 or 3 years, don't run old or bald tires and you'll be o.k.

these are the tires i got. basically i liked the look:

they are the BF Goodrich g-Force T/A KDW NT
215/40ZR-17 87Y XL
$139 B
.

i wanted these:

Yokohama AVS ES100
215/40ZR-17 83W BSW
$115

but Discount Tire told me they were really loud. but to be honest, the BF Goodrich ones i ended up getting are really loud as well. that's what my radio is for

Thats alot of money for a tire for a yaris, i'm glad I'm going with 16 inch rims, my khumo's are only 65 bucks each.
