Straight through..?

I searched it on here and found some stuff but no real answer. If i were to cut out the resonator(s) and cat from my midpipe and run a straight pipe through to the axle back, would it even be worth the low end loss for the top end gain? I know CEL's would be a problem but on hurdle at a time.

I seriously considered it myself on one of my old cars (never actually tried it though). Check out this article:

gonna be noisy as heck for minimal gains... Would be interesting to do a before and after dyno just to check, though...

Thats because when i cut my exhaust off my S4, the tree in my backyard claimed my rear window, my CPillar, my side mirror, and some interior items. On two different occasions... Beleive you me, that son-of-a-bitch tree that towered far over my house in Boston came straight down mid summer....mmmm sweet smell of justice....i mean firewood

Why would you remove the catalytic converter from a new car? That just doesn't make sense. You're talking about a car that puts something like 90 horsepower to the ground stock. C'mon. Seriously?

^ distortion makes it sound deeper than it is. if you don't want to buy a nitto mid-pipe you can easily just replace the resonator and 2nd cat with a straight pipe. the only tricky part is you gotta weld on a new hanger because the old one is on the resonator. make sure you leave the cat BEFORE the o2 sensor, otherwise you have to get a CEL Eliminator.

looks like this:
[ header ] === [ cat ] = [ o2 sensor ] === [ resonator w/ hanger ] = [ cat ] ===== [ axle back ]

if you remove the resonator with hanger, and the cat you should pick up a hp or two and sound noise (i'd figure it would sound decent). If you want you can also just remove the 2nd cat and put a straight pipe there if you want to leave the old resonator with hanger. I personally removed the resonator & cat and replaced them both with one single long glasspack.

i just changed my non muffler exhaust to a blitz nur spec axle back exhaust and voila...the old setup sound was great, it was the droning inside the car that was unbearable...the weird thing is 03z33 has the same setup like my old one except for the weapon r header and the sound in his car is bearable!

I dont know...why do we spend $200 on an intake for a 90whp car? Because we want to. I would be keeping the original(and seperate, 2nd) midpipe for all practical purposes. . I asked if it would be worth it to do it performance wise. Thats all.

You guys need to take a look at the long-tube header dyno results. It wasn't posted correctly,but the middle of the three runs is what happened when we removed the entire exhaust system aft of the stock exhaust manifold. At wide open throttle, there was NO loss in power anywhere by removing all of the exhaust, so this theory that there is a loss with minor adjustments to the mid pipe are not acurate. Every change we have made to the exhaust to improve flow has been positive (though not huge gains until we installed the long-tub header.)

IMO, it's worth it! still have the nitto mid pipe (w/o cat just 2 resonators) just don't do a non muffler exhaust because in my experience the droning is unbearable!

Doing something as making a straight through on such a small car with little flow would make the power band shift completely it seems ... I hacked off my exhaust on my car when it was rusting and had a hole and i had an assload more top end power...but it sounds mean as hell...

oh and i saw the recommended links down below, and lookie here i found my old thread... http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9028

and thats tree attack #1, don't know where two went but its sad...
