TOKYO (XFN-ASIA) - Toyota Motor Corp will launch a Lexus luxury sports car in Japan, the US and Europe in 2009 to enhance the brand's image, the Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported without citing sources.

The two-seater coupe will sell for more than 15 mln yen, and will likely be Toyota's most expensive. It will eclipse the Lexus LS, which is expected to sell for roughly 10 mln yen in Japan after its release in September.

The report said the Lexus vehicle will be based on the LF-A concept car, which Toyota exhibited at the 2005 Detroit motor show. It will be powered by a newly developed 5-liter V-10 engine and equipped with technologies and new materials that Toyota has developed through Formula One racing.
