You know that is just a slightly modified version of the 1.8L they are putting in the Yaris TS. It is already in the Vibe GT/ Matrix

The Elise and Exige use the 2zz-ge, the Yaris TS is not using that engine. It may be a 1zz-ge (I'm not sure) but the 2zz and 1zz are much different animals.

EDIT: I actually think the new 1.8 will be a modified 1nz, but who knows.

The engine they used for the Scion xD and Yaris TS is the 2ZR-FE "ported/modified 1NZ block" dual VVT-i, its more high-tech than than the 2ZZ-GE with VVTL-i but with less power because it doesn't provide intake valve lift but, it does also control the exhaust valve timing... just like the IS-350 with a smaller displacement.

I hope this enlightens you...

They have plans on making a Dual VVTL-i for the upcoming 2010 "KING" Supra!

Thanks for the info on the new engine, but I wouldn't call it more advanced than the 2zz, variable valve lift is a big deal for performance.

As far as a new Supra is concerned... I believe it when I see one sitting in a Toyota dealership.

EDIT: Also note the engine name, uses FE at the end designating an economy engine rather than a performance engine.

I think I'd rather just have the Exige. It would be a nasty swap though.

The 1.8 of the Yaris TS is a new block, the 2ZR-FE, successor to the 1ZZ
