Pinstriping, or how I killed a Saturday afternoon
Hey guys. I was getting kinda bored at home, so I downloaded some brochures and started doodling. 2 hours and 30m/100ft of pinstripe vinyl later; here are the results.
And as a whole... Don't know how long the vinyl will last before it peels off or wrinkles, but I guess I still have the 'plans' on paper, so I can just do it all again. And yes, it needs to be lower... |

That's kinda like a whitewall. There's a old local guy here that comes out to you and 'paints' a layer of white rubber over your sidewalls for a whitewall look. All four tires for $80AUD/$60US too. It won't come off as it's more rubber glued over the tire, like bike patches...

Gotta replace the steelies with 80 spoke Daytons, and add some curb feelers...
I thought it was photoshop at first... You need a yellow smaller stripe on the tires too, for the Vogue look

I'm in Australia, and there's like 5 guys doing the tire coloring in my area. Should be able to find the same service in the US; maybe hunt/ask around on some older car forums; that's how I found out about it here.
Mmm... Dayton's would be nice, along with a custom 4-pump hydraulic strut set-up. Pancakes anyone? :D |

I hate pinstriping and I have pulled it of of a couple of cars but you did a nice job with the stuff. Reminds me of the old custom cars kinda ed roth feel but without the brush. Nicely done anyway. You got talent.

Cheers for the comments. I'm trying to take the car in the same direction as the older custom cars and that kind of styling. Thus the steelies with the trims and the whitewalls. I've always loved the Ed Roth/Von Dutch style pinstriping from that era and all my university notebooks are covered in various pinstripe-y doodles. I'd love to learn how to do it with a brush as vinyl has its limitations in complexity, but all in due time I guess...
And the antenna on the front is just a guide to where the front of the car ends to aid parking since the hood slopes down so quickly. |

Nicely done. Oldschool look. Should last a long time if you dewaxed the areas you applied it to first, and stay away from power washers.
Search for tire paint...or: http://www.autobarn.net/duplicolor-hot-tires.html http://www.rangerpaint.com/collections/frontpage/

I was looking for the things the posters were talking about, but the pics didn't match at all. So weird! LOL |
