Got my car dyno'd today on a DynoJet

I wish I had baselined the engine before my mods. The signal to the sensor was intermittant so I had to do a straight line interpolation on the first chart.

Harry is a really great guy and will set up a Dyno Day if we can get five or more people to sign up. I drove all over trying to find a shop that would dyno the car. He is just east of the 405 on Oxnard St. in the San Fernando Valley.

It's hard to B.S. about your performance once you've been dyno'd.

only 90hp to the wheels..... eek. i wonder if the pulleys would make a big diff. cali yaris had like 107-110hp to the wheels with intake, headers, exhaust, pulleys. wonder why he gained so much oppossed to you?

I don't know. I have the same pulleys and I bought the headers he took off his car.

Harry spent alot of time saying that the 90 hp that the car is rated is not really WHP. I was disappointed when I saw the results of the first run too but his explanation seemed plausible. I hope Harry logs on here to explain it himself.

Without a stock baseline, I can't claim anything. I sure hope all that money in mods wasn't spent to make me feel like I got more power.

I need for someone to dyno a stock '08 LB AT on Harry's machine. I'll even split the cost with you. Please?

Garm, could you please post your dyno chart?

Pre-turbocharger, that is.

Well, hells bells, post the turbo charts too. Thanks

Well doesn't toyota say the 08 yaris produce 106hp? And obviously it isn't to the wheels. People always suggested the yaris got around 90 whp stock. All cars could be slightly faster or slower than eachother, but to see your car only pushing 90 whp after all the possible mods you could have done before F/I, I don't know what to tell you...

90 WHP is about right.. what were you expecting? Every dyno is different and cross compariing dyno numbers is comparing apples to oranges. Weather, altitude and dyno setup, brand and type all effect the numbers.

This reset to the older posts gave me a chance to read a few older threads. Lots of anecdotal statements like "feels smoother on the low end" and "pulls like crazy in 3rd gear".

Very few dyno charts. The reason I did this was to have a baseline if I choose to go the route of forced induction.

I got 108hp to the wheels (calculated 120hp at flywheel) with the mods listed below in my sig (plus iridium plugs).

I've got a manual tranny, so I think the main difference is that you've got the power-sapping AT to contend with.

I'll bet it was the Philips Silvervision turn indicator bulbs you're running.

I'm going to see if Garm sells them. Then I'll dyno again.

Hahahaha. I meant the DC header and Fujisubo axle back. The rest are purely aesthetic. I don't have the +50hp Turbo badge though.

I hate to think how little WHP I had stock. The car felt like a go-cart the day I drove it off the dealer's lot.

I probably would have left it unmodded except for YarisWorld. I'm glad that I stumbled upon this community.

I was too much a newbie to even think of getting a dyno baseline before modding.

So are your whp results leading you towards a s/c or turbo? Or are you content?

No, I'm not content...grrrr

If I had not dyno'd I still wanted to head towards FI. My stomach churns at laying out thousands of dollars to reach what some of you have with a few bolt on mods.

If I go FI, I will probably go S/C. Less parts that can go wrong. I know it will output less power but I don't see an off-the-shelf turbo kit ready in six months.

You won't have to tune or worry about 90% of headaches that turbo will cause you either.

Hopefully the s/c will give you good gains. I think it is yarisdarkness or something like that, he had intake, headers, pulleys, exhaust, lightened flywheel, blitz s/c and he got 130whp.

If your whp is only 90 right now, I am afraid to see what the s/c will give you. They say it's only suppose to give you around 30whp or so. And his lightened flywheel wasn't the significant factor in making him achieve 130whp. So don't think it's that which you need to get more HP. Those are expensive anyways. Like 800$ or so!?

Or maybe I can save a boatload of money and just get a set of SSR wheels like you did. I love the set you just got. I really like the one set Garm still has in anthracite.

Wheels & tires or S/C or ???

I made my last alimony payment in September and don't know what to do with the extra money.

This is my dynochart - as the numbers are calculated at the flywheel, take 15% off to get the numbers at the wheel.

For this dyno run I was running pump fuel (like I always do, even at track!). Everything else is as listed on my sig, including the Silvervision turn indicator bulbs. I had the stock airbox, filter, ECU and everything else.

The guy who ran the dyno shop joked that I must have stolen some of his high octane racefuel in the morning before I rocked up!
