I am going to test in the next week. First test ever after 4 years. My turbo is still attached to my lower compression built motor. I opened the wastegate and attached my k&n filter and mass air directly to my throttle body bypassing the turbo. I put back in the stock injectors and lowered my fuel pressure back to stock and dissconnected the vac line to my regulator. Also installed the fic bypass plug. I installed a converter on my car. So far I only have a evap. Emissions code because I lost the purge solinoid under the hood. I have it on order at the toyota dealer.
What a pain in the ass. Next time I will register this thing in some far away place or get a older car to build. |

How many places are actually requiring this type of inspection now anyway and from what years?

Pimp, does Illinois have visual inspection too or just OBD? It looks like you're going way overboard with prepping for inspection. What codes were you throwing with your current setup? |

I'm guessing everyone without cats is using a defouler or has their 2nd O2 sensor spaced out from the exhaust flow then?

Well I got all my emission parts on the car but I am still getting a po420 cat. efficiency code. My cat converter is on the pipe with clamps. I think I will need to get it welded on to eliminate all leaks. I hope that works. Also my evap. Monitor is showing incomplete. I think I will need a cold start up in order for it to test. I have added a return line with a external regulator. I hope it passes the test. Pain in the ass.

Well I finally passed my emissions test yesterday. I had to have a new cat. Converter installed to clear my p0420 code. 140$. Today I reinstalled my wideband and hooked the turbo back up. I left the factory o2 sensors attached to see if I could keep the light off with the turbo working at 12-13 psi. Before all this crap started I was running 13-1 afr with the factory o2 sensors disconnected at a steady cruise and it would richen up to 11 to 11.5 to 1 afr when at full throttle.
Now with the factory fuel trim working Im at 14-1 afr at all times except for full throttle where Im still in the 11-1 range. This does wory me when at partial throttle and in the boost being so lean. I am not sure how this will work out in the long run. But honestly the car never ran better. It feels just like a factory turbo car. Runs perfectly, just like stock only much more power. The check engine light is off. I checked long term fuel trim and its at -18%. So the factory computer is certainly leaning out my tune from the FIC. Except at full throttle. On a side note with the FIC hooked up previously I was never able to go over 5700rpm. I thought their was a problem with my FIC. Now with the o2 sensors hooked up. I am reaching the full 6300 redline with no problems. |
