wtf?! timing chain cover split?!

omg, I have a 2007 sedan with only 23,000 kms and they say they found a split in the timing chain cover.....got to take apart a lot of the engine and they do not have any idea on what might have caused it, I know its under warranty but still, I am wondering about the legendary toyota quality now :(

sorry guys, just in one of those moods now...lol....and I always am concerned about anytime they have to do engine work like this.....

may I ask why was the car brought into the garage in the first place, did you have some symptoms, problems etc.... you posted in the past you do your own oil changes, did you crack the cover?

there is nothing I could have done to cause this, this was a split in the inch or so thick metal casing...they are sending it to toyota to see if a recall is needed

oh yeah I had some noise from the engine and a minor oil leak

Oil leak!?! Busted metal cover!?! Holy shit! on a practically new car! Sounds like you are going to have lots of problems with that engine. I would see about a lemon law claim. There are bound to be more issues on the way.

i don't think there's a big issue with the 1nz-fe as it's already a matured engine...
it began in 99 with the vitz in japan... it's been 8years now..

your engine is probably just 1 lemon found in millions of oranges..

It does sound like his engine is the only one with that issue(s). Maybe the engine builder dude was up all night partying at the karaoke bar or a geisha house. hehe
