Gauge Cluster LED's

Does anyone have any pics or know how many LED's make up the gauge cluster (the sedan ones). I was thinking of changing the RPM ring out to blue and keeping the gauge face white. I also want to switch out the turn signals from the green to blue. The LED's are about 2 bucks a piece, so I want to see how many LED's it's going to be to do this job. I know some of you have changed out your LED's already, so I'm hoping you guys still have the pics from your change out.

Got this from vodkalush:

I just want that little hash line ring on both the tach and speedo to be blue.

Now looking at the board, I'm not sure it's possible to just replace that without replacing the face as well.

just purchase the same sized SMT LED's in blue ( i assume they are SMD leds but picture is kinda small). It'll require some soldering skills to pull it off.

I'll be having a professional shop do this job, but I just want to make sure I can replace just the ring (the outer part of the tach and speedo) and not the entire thing before I take my car in.

Just follow vodkalush's DIY, it should be very similar to the LB's gauge cluster.

Where is Vodkalush nowadays? No sight of him in over 6 months.

from what it looks like yes it's doable by just changing the white led's to blue. Assuming that the tach/speedo needle shares the same light source, your needle will not illuminate with blue LED's because blue light does not pass through red. You might be lucky and the needle has its own independent light source.

The face is all one piece. Its only possible to change the leds to make it a different color.

Damn, I really wanted to make the outer ring blue.

But yeah, hehe, that's cool how you made the needles and faces opposite of each other. First time I've seen that.

He knows his SMD LED installations.

Radio is still looking and working great, Don. Thanks!
