^ you need wires going from the ECM to the little hub in the steering wheel column, a wire going from that hub to a ground point, and the stalk, and then a jumper wire for two pins in the engine bay. Everything's been outlined and explained, so you just need to read carefully. That's about it. I'm selling my stalk btw, since I just don't really want it.

So it should work ..

I have 09 3 door liftback, and it seems all I need is a stalk. Could someone give me a link to where you got the stalk ? Thanks a lot for the investigating this !

I don't think it will work on your car. On European manufactured Yaris cruise control is not an OEM option, so the ECM doesn't support this mod.

Ok, after reading all these posts I am now REALLY confused so please bear with me since I am also new here. I have an '09 S 5 door liftback, auto trans. In real simple terms since I am not an electrical engineer, what do I have to do to have the factory cruise installed. The dealer wants over $500 for an aftermarket one which is ridiculous.

With an 09, you can simply purchase the OEM cruise control stalk (Toyota part number: 84632-3401), pull the steering wheel and install it, and you'll have cruise control.

Or, check out this thread for adding cruise to your 09 auto for about $10:

Just to confirm after reading 24 pages.....this will work on an '08 MT but you need the stalk, the clutch switch and need to do some wiring to the fuse box, correct?

when I finally get around to doing it, I will make one, however it will be the stalk method, since I like more of an oem look.

For your MT you're going to need the clutch switch as well. It's OK to bypass it for testing, but for normal use you really should have it in place.

Anyone else from the New England region interested in doing theirs? We could do a DIY cruise control workshop.

I may move the led I have mounted next to the switches up into the guage cluster before I install the LED module CTScott has provided. Make it look a little more stock-ish. Also scott, if my LED is too bright I can just add a resistor of my choice in series and that'll dim it down some correct? And also I'm going to just buy the stock clutch switch for 20$ from the dealer, rather than try to fix the frankenstein I put together :)

Yes, you can add a resistor to dim it. If you used a blue LED, you might have to go up to between 30K and 50K Ohms for it to not be blinding.
