Custom Cat-Back exhaust Yaris TS **now with Video**

Some Pics of my custom set up. This was done on a local shop and the total cost came up to about $300 including the resonators.

I removed everything from the primary cat back. The secondary cat was deleted. The Pipe is 2.25" all the way back. No mandrel bends there are no mandrel bend machines here and bring all the curves from the US was a bit pricey.

The OE central resonator was removed and replaced by a Magnaflow 4"wide 18" long round muffler and the rear OE muffler was replaced by another Magnaflow round 5" wide 14" long. For the tip I went with a 4" round resonated SS tip to keep a stock look.

Sound of the set up is a little on the loud side... but I don't mid that. I put some fatmat all over the rear of the car and that help a lot to keep the noise inside the cabin down.

There was No noticeable lost of low end torque and a nice pick up of power from 4,000rpm up to the red line.

For anyone installing an exhaust to a TS I would highly suggest to AT LEAST replace completely the portion of pipe between the OE central resonator and the OE rear muffler.
That portion of pipe is really small and crimped. Out exhaust starts at 2.5" wide between the exhaust manifold and the primary cat and then goes down to almost 1.75" after the resonator.

Exhaust upgrade is a MUST for this car imho.

I will post a sound clip later...

Would this work on a sedan 1.5L?

Do you have CEL?

If so, could you just use spacers to rid of the CEL?

Do you feel a difference when you drive, and how loud is it from stock?

Yes, no, no and yes.

It will work on a sedan, the exhaust layout is the same.

It doesn't throw a cel. I still have the primary cat I just removed the secondary cat. My car should be able to pass emssions test.
The o2 sensor picks up it data from the primary cat, if you remove the cat after the sensor nothing will happen to the car.

No need for a spacer... only if you remove both cats.

Yes, there is a difference. The car picked up some power from 4ooorpm to the red line.

It's louder than stock... is not obnoxious or anything but if you do long comutes it might get anoying. A solution for this would be to use a different kind of muffler on the back. The sedan has more space than the hatchback.

You can go for a turbostyle muffler on the back like the dynomax superturbo... that should make it quite.

oh I see... I guess the nitto should be on the quite side.

One suggestion. If you are getting rid of the OE resonator, have it replaced by large resonator. To save a few buck I've seen people use a small glass pack. That will make your car loud. Mine is a 4" round 18" long Magnaflow and it helps a lot.

Also, for your car I would suggest a nice 2" mandrel bent pipe.

I went 2.25" since my car has slightly more displacement and to make up for the crushed sections of the pipe since I don't have a shop that do mandrel bents near me.

I really like some of the aftermarket axelbacks available for our car... I just can't stand the fact of paying $300 - $400 for one when you can have a full exhaust with good quality parts made for that money

Oh you are talking about the Magnaflow mufflers... I tought you were talking about the OE exhaust pipe wich looks dirty and rusty on the before pics.

Not sure if the picture makes it look worst than it is or if those are heat marks from the welding or what... but the 2 mufflers were just out of the box when I took them to the shop for install.

Any ways... I'm planning to clean all the exhaust and have it painted during the sumer.

See how the magnaflows come out of the box:
