Talking Post your oil change regimen!

As the title says... Post what brand, weight, and mileage intervals you do your oil changes with. Also, don't be afraid to throw in your oil filter brand that you like.

I use Pennzoil Ultra. 5W-30. I change at every 5,000 miles. I use Toyota OEM filters.

Mobil1 Extended performance 5/30 once per year, and Denso filter every 6 months.

So far, mine were through ToyotaCare that came with my car. Whatever synthetic oil they use. The next oil change I have to pay for. I may go to Car-X.

I have used Mobil 1 0W-30 & NAPA gold filters since my Yaris was new. It has 67K miles on it now and I change the oil every 5000 miles, although I plan on extending it to 10000 miles next oil change (I will switch to NAPA platinum filter).

I'm on Toyota care right now also, but as soon as I'm off it, mobil one synthetic 5w30 with matching filter. (always buy it on sale, 28.99 for the whole thing!)

Why would you guys EVER go 10,000 miles on an oil change? That is just crazy.

I changed the oil every 2 years (18k~20k miles)on my 85 PU(22r engine), for 17 years. I put close to 500K miles on that truck, and drove it to the junk yard.

Never had any issues with the truck or engine.

Toyotas do not need 3k~5k mile oil changes. It's just a waste of money.(IMO).

^^^^^This. Pretty much. For the last 122k + miles I've tried to be just under 20k miles between oil/filter changes. Over the 'life' of my Yaris, per my log book, I've changed my oil and filter at the following mileage points on the car: 10,002 miles.....15,119 miles.....20,003 miles.....25,057 miles.....38,036 miles.....72,050 miles.....87,708 miles.....110,150 miles.....113,548 miles.....131,751 miles.....153,918 miles.....169,891 miles.....188,622 miles.....207,297 miles.....226,835 miles. I currently have 235,728 miles on my Yaris. I had the spark plugs replaced at just over 208,000 miles for the first time (amazingly, a Toyota dealer was the cheapest place I found). When I picked the car up, the service writer at the dealership told me they tried to find things to recommend that I do re service, and the only thing they could come up with was to change the air filter (I had a new one waiting in the wings t put in myself after the spark plug change). He said the engine is in great shape and is not burning any oil.

P.S. oops...almost certain I left one out. I felt guilty after the 34,014 lapse between odometer 38,036 and 72,050 so I changed again at 74,000+ . Will check log book again.

P.P.S. Checked. 74,000+, to be exact, was 74,480

Good to hear! FYI, I will be changing the auto trans fluid once a year as well, as it only needs 3 quarts, and I pretty much drive my cars like I've stolen them

I change mine once a year with Amsoil. I bounce from 0w-20 and 5w-20. I'm also using Amsoil EA oil filters, once a year as well. When Amsoil temporarily discontinued their EA oil filter for the Yaris, I was using MANN oil filters and changing them every 7500 miles.

Most full synthetic oils suggest changing oil every 10k. i run 8 at the most, but if I plan on going over 5k, i'll change the filter and top it off.

Been doing this for a while now, and my engine compression test is just a few psi lower than a brand new engine. So I think the Amsoil is worth it ;)

Twice a year at 6 months or just under 5,000 miles . Have to because of the Platinum warranty . Use Shell synthetic 5w-20 for the cold months and their 5w-30 during the warmer weather . Now using AC Delco PF 1233 oil filter for less than $4 each . Shell synthetic is under $3.40 a quart . May get a used oil analysis at upcoming oil change . Depends if the weather cooperates . Outdoor O.C. on the drive .

You'd be better off running 0/30 for cold and 5/30 for hot.

The 30 wt end of the oil is measured at 212*F, that does not change once your engine is warmed up, wether it be winter or summer.

Castrol GTX, 5W-30, OEM filter every 3,000 miles. I buy my filters on ebay by the case.
