Fuel Gauge

Hi, yes I have read the other treads.
2005 Toyota Yaris Verso 1.4 diesel.
Stuck on 2 bars on the gauge.
I have replaced the fuel gauge sender and pump, replace the lcd display and still it is stuck on 2 bars.
Any help - Thanks

Sounds like the wire between the sender and instrument cluster might be pinched. Do you have access to a multimeter to take some resistance measurements?

Try to run it down to one bar.

Can it do this?

When run empty it just goes from the stuck 2 bars to flashing.
I have checked the violet wire and it doesn't read anything.

Follow the wires from display unit and check the rear connector from gas tank. What corresponds with the rear wiring to the front gas guage display focus on those.

Just tell me all the colors coming from the gas tank basically.

Then we go from there.

The fuel sender should read from 4 ohms with the tank full to 107 ohms with the tank empty.

With the ignition off and the connector pulled from the back of the instrument cluster, measure the resistance between the violet wire in pin 12 and the brown wire in pin 9.

There are two junction connectors between the fuel sender and the cluster. One is on the brown wire and is IB1 (a grey 13 pin connector under the dash). The other is on the violet wire and goes into the back of the under dash fuse panel on connector 1F and exits it to head back to the sender at 1T on the front of the under dash fuse panel.

I have used a meter on any violet wire I could find, was 2 off them that go into the lcd display, no readings at all.
Have tried to check for connecters under the dash, but there seems to be a big plastic plate at the back of the fuse box, so cant see.
The violet wires coming out of the front top of the fuse box connecter also give no reading.
When the new fuel sender/ pump was fitted, I disconnected the wires and the fuel gauge flashed, then back onto 2 bars when fitted.
I will check the colour of these fuel sender wires by the tank tomorrow and try and trace them under the carpet. cheers

You mentioned also changing the LCD. Did you change the entire instrument cluster?

Also, if you can snap pictures of the instrument cluster connectors, I can tell you exactly which wires to test.
