LB: non-destructive Front License Plate mounting

Hey everybody, I've been planning on doing this since I got my car, but haven't had the time or a simple solution. Thanks to my friend Hulles I decided to do it today...
I went to home depot and bought a bunch of items I thought I might need (pic 1)
in the end, I only needed 2 items:
a 1/4" X 3.5" Bowl to Floor Toilet bolt set (that's right) $2.16
and a roll of non-adhesive plastic shelf and drawer liner $4.97

Then i cut the liner (only needed 1 cut, because the width was = to the size of the plate) and took the plastic washers out of the toilet bolt set and attached the plastic to the tags. (there is a ton of plastic liner left over)
then I used the metal washers and brass nuts that came in the toilet bolt set to mount the plate through the lower grill. The hardest part was getting inside the grill from the bottom, had to loosen the plastic engine bay protector and slip my hand up in there.
only takes a couple of minutes.

perhaps I'm the only one that didn't want to punch holes in their bumper and no one else will find this useful, but i'm happy with the results.

yeah, that's one good thing about doing it this way, you can put it anywhere... i prefered off-center, so...

and i had to fight to get out of the dealer without holes or a front plate... but it was worth the hassle!

they were going to not put holes in my bumper, but ended up getting the car from another dealership, and they had already put them in...

Thanks, Henshin, I just got my Yaris last night, and was wondering how to do this nicely. Maryland also requires front license plates. My other car came with me from Delaware ten years ago, where you didn't need a front tag. I figured that the expense and damage to put on a front tag was worth getting tickets over. Then I got pulled over a few years after I moved, and it just wasn't worth the hassle :/

Thanks again!

This is what Nevada's DMV says about front plates:

Quote:
Most vehicles require two plates at all times, except motorcycles and trailers, which require only a rear plate. You must display both plates if the vehicle is designed for a front plate or if the manufacturer offers an add-on bracket or frame.

Front plates are optional only if 1) the vehicle was not designed for a front plate and 2) the manufacturer did not provide an add-on bracket or other means of displaying the front plate.
(NRS 482.275 - 2005 Nevada Legislature Senate Bill 251)

DMV will issue two plates for all vehicles (except motorcycles and trailers). If the second plate is not displayed, it is the owner's responsibility to store the second plate and surrender or return both plates to the department at the appropriate time.

My LB Yaris doesn't seem to have any mounting spots for a license plate on the front. Do you guys think I fall under the front plate optional policy?

I've lived in Las Vegas for 20 years and haven't had a front plate displayed in 12 years. So far no hasslles...

Wife doesn't hang a front plate either!
