Loose Change holder(?) and cup holder

Happy new year, everyone!

I have this problem since I bought my 09 yaris sedan as used 1 and a half years ago.
I am not sure what this part is called, but I saw someone called it a change holder that is located by your left leg and cover the fuse box.
This part was always loose, and it kept dropping on my left knee and stayed open all the time I drove, so I took it out temporarily.
I am not sure if the part is broken or something inside is broken so it doesn't hold the change holder(?) well.

Also the passenger side cup holder doesn't stay closed, so I don't let whoever sits there use the cup holder. Is this because something is broken inside?

does anyone have the same experience? I am trying to figure these out by myself and fix them because I don't want to bring this car to a mechanic and pay $$$ for something that doesn't bother the car's performance.

I don't understand. It would be open for them to use it.

There is a little metal clip that attached to the top part of the opening for the driver's side change cup and it is probably missing on yours. Unfortunately, I don't see it listed in the EPC, so it is probably only available by purchasing the entire assembly (which is called the "box, instrument panel").

For the passenger cup holder, the spring assembly that keeps it closed may be missing or broken. It is a less than a dollar part (55623-52050).

Check out page 42 and 56 of the Instrument Panel service manual on the below link:
http://www.etimago.com/yaris/repairm...nt%20Panel.pdf

It shows how the spring clips should be that hold it in for the sedan.

Other parts of the service manual are here:

It currently has 51k. I bought it from a used car lot. :-/
I regret I didn't check all the details before I bought it. (always learning hard way.)

Thank you, CTScott! Now I should look for where I can find/order the parts. :P

At one point I had thought that I had lost the metal clip...I was so pissed...then I found it sitting under my pull lever for the trunk...ppphhheeewwww! Be careful once you do replace it cause they can come unhinged easily. As for the cupholder that seems to be a theme. I was looking at getting a sedan for my daughter last summer and the summer before that. Found what I felt was a lot of them that had damaged cupholders. Removing them is dicey too because it is easy to lose the metal wires into the dash fast quick and in a hurry so be careful with that as well.

Thank you, Revsson.
Unfortunately, the links do not work anymore. Do you know any other place I can find that service manual?

Thank you for your story, fnkngrv.
I may end up just leaving them as-is, but I will see what I can do. :)

Dang...no, I don't know. Perhaps CTScott has an answer.
I think someone had downloaded it to another site like torrent or
something, but I just always went to that link.

Anyone else have an answer for the service manual link?
