205/50R16s alright for a yaris ?
Hi Guys,
My new black yaris 1.5 5 dr is coming next week. I'll be slapping on some rims and lowering with TRD springs. I want some 16" wheels, porbably a Advan RGII replica. My concerns will be noise and wheel/fender rubbing. WHat offset should I be going for if I do not want an rubbing at all ? I'm also torn between going for 205/50R16 tyres or 195/50R16. The 205 are large , so it should fill the wheel arch abit more, but will they rub ? Its almost 20mm wider, and 0.4 of an inch larger in diameter. 205/50R16 is actually smaller than some rides who put 205/45R17. It shld look pretty trick. Still deciding the colour of the rims too. I was thinking bronze, but bronze would look a little dark on a black car. But Silver would be too ordinary it seems.Maybe white ? |

here this should solve all your tire questions I am running 225/50R15's with no rub... so you can go wide with no problems, just get the correct offset for the width... a 7 inch wide wheel should have a +38 offset

For 16 inch wheels and 205mm tyres, what offset and what rim width shld I go for ? I do not want an over stretch look.

I'm running 205/45-16s with a 42 offset, no rubbing. Pics in my garage.

I have 205 50 16s on 16X7 +40mm offset. Check out my garage for pics. They work and look great.
This is the size that is closest to the stock diameter. |

True, but I wanted to go a bit smaller (by 0.5") and the 50s are bigger by 0.3". The biggest difference, apart from your speedo reading low while mine reads high, is that you get a marginally better ride than I do. Main thing is that we're both happy with the choice

205s will increase road noise, drag, and fuel consumption over 195s. You will get more mechanical grip, which is always helpful if you like going around bends quickly.
