Heard that it may be wise to pull plugs @ say 50,000 miles regap & clean the threads add antisieze to threads & reinstall them if you dont want to buy new ones. This is to prevent plugs from siezing in the heads when you pull them @ 100,000 miles.

They're installed with proper antiseize compound at the factory, and gapping's not recommended with the iridium plugs. It is highly advisable to let the engine cool completely before removing plugs from an aluminum head, and to use a torque wrench when installing the new ones, though these are plugs that use a gasket and thus have some leeway on installation torque. If you ever strip the plug hole threads in the head, though, you'll wish you hadn't.

Google "Yaris spark plugs" and you'll quickly find the part numbers. Yes, the engine is the same in the U.S. sedan and liftback models. 1496cc 1NZ-FE.

I had no problems pulling plugs at 80,000 from factory. I did mine a little earlier then 100,000 a my own personal insurance, they looked very good. I will probably change mine again at 150,000.

Yes, this his what many recomend.
Personally, I simply changed the iridium plugs on my othe car at about 60k. IMO, if you are going through the trouble of pulling them, you might as well replace them.

I'm not going to trouble myself to look at them earlier than recommended, as long as it's running OK.

Insurance against what?

What?

Nothing!

Changing them out before 100,000 miles is a waste of time and money.

Yep. If you leave plugs in place way past the recommended change interval till they're totally shot, what will eventually happen is that a Check Engine Light will come on with a code for random misfiring. No BFD.

Or even worse. I can remember when I was in college and working closing shift at Subway. Closed up the restaurant at 0200 and my coworker headed out while I took care of the alarm and cashout. This was back in 1995 when cell phones for all intensive purposes were still bag phones and expensive. I come out to my parent's 86 Corolla with close to 200k miles on it and turn the key...................fires then, POOF! Long story short, original spark plugs and one of them had the porcelain disintegrate. Tried to to call the 'rents on the house phone, but of course they slept through it. I walked the 14 miles home.

Change mine every 30,000 on every car I've owned. Don't care what manufacture says
