Engine block heater HELP!
I just purchased a used 2013 Yaris Hatchback LE.
I wanted to install an engine block heater and after doing some some reading a found out that new Toyota engines have a molded socket on the engine block specifically for a tube type engine heater. The only problem is I can find the damn hole! Even the guy at the Toyota dealership said he'd never heard of that and recommended getting an oil dipstick type heater. It probably doesn't help that I live in North Alabama where engine heaters aren't common. Has anyone installed one that can direct me where to find the socket to install my heater? |

It's on the firewall side of the engine block on the drivers side. I found it helpful to remove the battery. It's down pretty low.
Keep trying! Livin in Bama an you need a bhp

Just Google "block heater install yaris world" there was a thread about it w/ pics.
It's not hard to do but if you have a m/t you'll need to remove the shift bracket and cables to access the hole. For an a/t you don't need to move anything. Cory's pics is correct. Keep in mins the hole access is on the drivers side of the engine right at the back

After more searching referencing the posted pictures I finally found the socket and installed my heater!
I never would have found it without removing the battery. I wasn't able to find any posts with pictures so I'm posting mine to help out others. The small orange piece of rubber is the electrical plug to the heater. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
