Question about service to the yaris

AT the rate I'm going at. I'll only have maybe 2000 miles on my yaris in 6 months when they said to bring it in for it getting its regular service and checked out. Otherwise they said it would void my warranty. And they said to bring it in every 6 months after that. Is it really nessesary to have them service it like that. Or can I come in later when I have more miles on it.

My advice would be to read all of your manuals thoroughly. If a time interval is noted on the schedule, Toyota may deny a claim - but the decision rests with them and not the dealer. Modification of a car can cause real headaches with warranties, so beware if you're thinking of doing any. If the service in question is just an oil change, visiting the dealer every six months is pretty reasonable regardless of mileage.

Most manufacturers are going to longer recommended maintenance intervals; many oil changes are now being set at 5,000 miles to 7,500 mile intervals (sometimes longer); MINI, for example, has oil change intervals of 12 months or 12,000 miles. Warranties are somewhat discretionary - if a car looks like it's been cared for, then the time/mileage link is less rigid.

Sounds like the dealer's trying to "scare up" some business. If you have more than one dealer in your area, go and pose this question to them - you may get a different answer.

That is simply pure bs.

Read what your manual says.

A dealer cannot void a warranty because you do not give them enough money. That is basically what they told you.

As for mods, a dealer cannot deny warranty work because of mods. The SCCA and other organizations have done much to clarify the law.

It is not a bad thing to get the first oil change a little early, as that is when a lot of loose junk in the engine tends to come off and mess up the oil.

It is BS - I can't see Toyota denying a claim on some other part of your car (if you were to get into an accident or something) just because you don't change your oil every 6 months. That being said, I would definitely get your oil changed every 6 months regardless of how often you drive your car...there is a lot of crap that can accumulate in your car's engine in that time, and it wears...your engine will last a lot longer this way.

Your Yaris manual will tell you every 8,000km.

I took mine in for its first change at 6900.
