2 different thermostats (???)

when i look for parts, i come up with 2 distinctly different shapes:
here is an example:
stant type 1: https://www.carid.com/stant/oe-type-...38&url=1723245
stant type 2:https://www.carid.com/stant/oe-exact...41&url=1723245

is there any advantage to one style?
i don't think i've ever seen 2 different styles...

I doubt that either one is significantly better or worse. For a thermostat the most import things are the opening temperature and the outer radius being the same. The same thermostat design will typically fit many different models, so the difference in those two maybe one of those is more of a design preferred by say Nissan and the other by Honda.
