How hot should my brake rotors get?

I know this is a Yaris forum, but I just did my wife's Rav4 brakes...new rotors & pads. Shooting a laser at the rotors...any idea how hot front rotors should get?...ball park. I drove around town hitting 40 mph tops applying the brakes often but not real hard. I was getting around 300 degrees F. That seemed a little high. I'm sure if I hit the highway and did some test stops/slowdowns it would be higher. Should I be concerned? Once again, I realize this a Yaris forum but the information I hope to get would be helpful to us Yaris enthusiast. Also, the input from you guys is always much more in depth than the folks over on the Rav4 forum.

thank you....I guess I am just a little cautious since I had a problem with my sons Avalon years ago....not sure how hot the one with the bad caliper got but the rotor was a smoking blue when I took it on the freeway test run.
