The 2ZR it's been out for less than 2 years.... It could be as fragile as the 1NZ, but we don't really know.
No one has reported a Con Rod failure on any forum so far...

There is this guy who was drag racing in a boosted 2ZR. Ended up killing the engine after a few months but due to a lean condition @14 psi. But the rods held up with the abuse.

I have heard that all the new DUAL VVT-i have stronger blocks that the previous generation engines. The 1NR FE is less fragile than the 2NZ FE. The 2ZR FE is less fragile than the 1ZZ FE!
Anyway, what exactly did happen to that boosted 2ZR FE?

has anyone tried to get a dual VVTI 1.8L and swap engines here in the US for the stock 1NR-FE? if so...what kind of performance did you get? what else do you have to change (ECU, CAMS, etc)? and most important what was the $ ballpark after everything is running smoothly?

No one has done it.

IMHO is not worth it... yet. Perhaps with some more development on the 1.8 platform it could become a good choice for a swap in the future.

Perfomance figures? Same performace as any Yaris TS. Nothing impresive, hence why I say not worth it yet.

This should be a straight forward swap. But a little problem will have to be sorted. Where do you find a 1.8 engine? For cheap at least...

You'll need a wrecked scion xD to pull the engine with ECU and harness.

Hmm, perhaps going the supercharger route would be more cost productive.
