Wanting to get a 2014 Yaris

I've been a semi-lurker for a while. Got a new Yaris back in 2007- first new car. Loved the hell out of that car. Had it until the end of 2012 when I sold it to my GF, and bought a 2009 Nissan 370Z. I've driven the Z around for a year now, and honestly, I prefer the Yaris. It's much more practical, and while I enjoy the awesome HP that the Z's have, it's a lot of money for a car that I don't drive like I should.

Anyways, I'm digging to find a Yaris, same as the other one- curious on what sort of deals I can expect to get, and if there are any tricks I can use to get a better price on one.

Side note: What the heck with the 2015 yaris's- the price has shot right up already- base model in 2007 was 11.5k, base model now is 14k, but I can't find it less then 15k. 2015 is supposedly somewhere between 20k and 30k 0_o

Where are you getting price points for 2015 models from. I purchased a 2008 base sedan for 14,500 new, and just paid 15,300 for a 5 door SE.

Toyota deals and special offers are few and far between. Just look up a local Toyota dealer and ask. My rule of thumb is bargain hard with a dealer.

Huh? 2015? Won't be out until around the fall of this year. Between $20 and $30K? Well if you want 2 of them, it may set you back $30K.

If you really want a deal you should be able to call around and find a Yaris that has been on a lot for months and months, dealers will usually give massive deals to get cars like that off the lot.

I managed to get a new 2014 base Yaris for 14,450. Calling around seemed to do the trick. For people who have gotten the base model for the third gen- is there a way to install Keyless entry cheaply? I saw a guide for second gen, but not third- would it still work for the third gen Yaris?

im not much of a do it your selfer. I paid a local shop to do it. it was only $140 since the power locks are already there, so it is probably a pretty cheap DIY proposition.

While searching for the 2015 model release date on this page, I noticed the 20,000-30,000 price range mentioned by the OP. After reading the linked page, I'd say that the native language of the author is not English. The countries referred to in the body of the text are Indonesia and China. Does either country tax vehicles, or require an expensive use permit, to a point that brings the Yaris into this $20,000-$30,000 USD range ? I don't know. Perhaps some members who have knowledge in this area will post to this thread.

^^^^^ Also found the link directly above from the same search. I think the author assumes his or her audience to be people who live in Indonesia. Again, the 20,000-30,000 price range is mentioned (likely USD....the IAR/USD and CNY/USD ratios don't fit).

A lot of pacific rim countries and even in some European countries I believe the price of the Yaris is around $20,000 - $30,000. That isn't an American dollar cost, but a rounding from the local currency to the American dollar. Sounds like Australian prices to be specific.

Remember the Yaris was the best selling car in Europe for a while, they get a ton of features and options we don't because of that. Plus there are 2 or 3 less expensive models in other markets.

I know they are not paying with USD in said markets. I thought USD because the article is in English and the spelling gives a nod to American English rather that British English. However, even given that, I think you're correct to suggest the Australian dollar. Makes the most sense.

Prices range from AD$14990 for 1.3L, 3 door, manual YR to AD$18990 for 1.5L, auto YRS 5 door hatch. These are all "list" prices, minus on road costs, and better deals are available especially at the end of June. What I do see, though, is good resale prices for used Yaris.
You would certainly be able to get something like a YRS 5 door hatch with auto on the road for less than AD$20000. This is comparable with Mazda 2 and similar size cars.

$30000 on the road.
It is all relative though as our dollar is generally higher that the USD and is buying 94 of your cents today.

Hmm. Maybe with all the taxes, I seem to think every Australian Yaris member I have seen on here has quoted around $24k or so. Of course as you say that might have been in the past and prices might have changed with the currency valuations.

I was just quoting prices out of my favourite car magazine. I just checked in on my local Toyota dealers website and they are very cagey and won't give prices. I would be very surprized, though, if I couldn't get an upmarket Yaris on the road for less than 20k. There may be regional differences also. Interestingly they are advertising sedans. Maybe an Aussie who has recently bought one can chime in on actual paid prices.

If this is the case, then do you know if the range of the cost of a Yaris + Taxes + Fees to get it on the road in Indonesia is at an amount in Rupiahs that would exchange to 20,000 - 30,000 US Dollars?
